    PITTSBURGH, PA.
FRIDAY MORNING, AUGUST 1, 1895
PITTSBURGH BOARD OF TRADE.
..COMMITTEE FOR •UGUST.
Carother4, T. J. Bigham, Joshua Henna
"SET YOUR WATCHES RlGHT.—TheatteQon o
our readers is respectfully directed to tho advertise
ment of Mr W. W. Wilson, Watch Maker, No 57
Market street. it will be seen that Mr W. has just re
ceived from London, a recently invented instrument,
called the Dipleidoicope; "by which true time can
be obtained, either from the sun or stars, to a fraction
of a second." It is truly a very important and useful
invention.
Cotton Afanttfacluring.— There is a perfect huz
among all the papers around us on the subject of Cot
ton Factories, superinduced by the success of the Lan-
caster people in establishing their "Conestoga Steam
Mills Manufacturing Co " We are right down glad
to see the newspapers take hold of this matter in
earnest, and endeavor to make their people see the
benefits to be derived from this branch of productive
industry. Pennsylvania ought to be the first manu
facturing State in the Union, and it only requires our
citizens to be awakened to a sense of this fact and the
olden harvest to be derived front it, to bring about "a
consumation so devotedly to be wished for." Let the
newspapers I r keep en and "agitate—agitate—agitate,"
until the whole State becomes alive with the spindle
and the reel. We shall he in fact the Keystone of
the Federal arch, when this branch of manufactures
stall be added to our iron. Let us, then, "keep up
the fire,"—Col. (Pa.) Spy.
