WASHINGTON, July 3d, 1315.
Sir—Siece I have been in this city I base used some
of your Dysperit lc medicine with infinite benefit and
satisfaction, and believe it to be a 1111ist valuable reme
dy. One of my constituents, Dr A Carden, of Camp
bell county, Tennessee, wrote to me to send him some,
which I did, and ho has employed it very successfully
in his practice and says it is invaluable. M r Johnson,
your agent at this place, thinks yuu would probably
like an agent in Tennessee. if so, I would recom•
mend Or 4 Carden, as a proper person to officious for
th e sal e of your celebrated medicine. Should you
commission hint he is willing to act for yi;u. You can
send the medicine by water to the care of Robert King
& Sons, Knoxville county, Tennessee, or by lanai to
Graham & Houston, Taxwell, East Tennessee.
have no doubt but if you had agents in several coun
ties in East Tennessee, ta great deal of medicine would
be sold. lam going to take some of it home for my
own use, and that Of my friends, and should like to
hear from you whetla , r you would like an agent at
Blumville, Sullivan County, East Tennessee; I can
get some of the merchants to act for you as I live near
there. I%itit a respectfully •

Thou happy, happy e!f!
(But stop—first let me kiss away that tear)
Thou tiny image of myself!
(My love hp's poking peas into his ear)
Thou merry, laughing sprite!
With spirits feather light,.
Untouched by sorrow, and unsoiled by sin,
(Good heavens! the child is swallowing a pin!)
Thou little tricksy Puck !
With antic toys so funnily bestuck,
Lia,ht as the singing bird that wings the air.
(The door! the door! he'll stumble down the stair 1)
Thou darling of thy sire!
( Why, Jane he'll set his pinafore afire.)
Thou imp of mirth and joy!
In love's dear chain so strong and bright a link,
Thou idol of thy parents—( Dm the boy!
There goes my ink!)
Thou cherub—but of earth;
Fit playfellow for lays by moonlight pale,
In harmless sport and mirth,
(That dog will bite him if he pulls its taill)
Thou human humming-bee, extracting honey
From every blossom in the world that blows,
Singing in youth's Llysium ever supny,
(Another tumble—that's his precious nose!)
Thy father's pride and hopes
(He'll break the mirror with that skipping rope)

Thou young domestic dove!

Dear nursling of the hymeneal nest!

Thou enviable beingl

Play on, play on,
My elfin John!
Toss the light ball—bestride the stick,
(I knew so many cakes would make him sick!)
With fancies buoyant as the thistle-down,
Prompting the face grotesque, and antic brisk
With many a lamblike frisk,
(He's gotthe scissors, snipping at your gown,)
Thou pretty opening rose!
(Go to your mother, child, and wipe your nose!)
Balmy, and breathing music like the south. 7

The animal happened to come in contact with the doe 7

and gave a sourl at the "great medicine man," which
the latter promptly repaid with ¢ kick that sent the

knocked the end of his cane violently against the

and, seemed by all his gestures fully bent on "nurshlg
his wrath to keep it warm."
The doctor all this time took no notice of him ; hie
dinner over, he settled the bill for himself and 2 friends,
and was near the door on his way 'out when he was
slapped from behind on the shoulder. He mined a
