day,) a are broke out in a house, occupied by John M'
Combs, in Wilkins township, near F. Wit -soles. Mr.
house and a shop adjoining, occupied by a
family. were both destroyed. We did not learn how
the fire originated.

prietors of the Steam Boat Lake Erie have from and
after thisdate changed their hours, and in future will
leave
Pittsburgh for Beaver at 3 o'clock, P. M., and
Beaver at 8 o'clock, A. M. daily. (Sundays excepted.)
It will appear manifest upon examination, that the
owners of the 'learners Michigan and Wisconsin, are
determined to drive from the trade the Steamboat Lake
Erie ; their course has been and now continues in full
vigor to monopolize the whole business; they were not
satisfied with having the libn's share of trade and
choice of hours in leaving Pittsburgh and Beaver, hut
now publicly and plainly say they will drive the Lake
Erie from the river—a generous public will decide.—
Freights and passengers loran ports on River and Lake,

the City of Pittsburgh." passed at the last session of
the Legislature, with *Supplement to said act, agree
ably to the provisions of said act and Supplement, and
reqttesting the Cultic to order and direct an Election
to be held by the Citizens of said sections eight and
seventeen, at such time and place and under such ar
rangements as are prescribed and directed by said act
and ropplement.
And now, to wit, Mny 26. 1845: The foregoing Pe
tition presented in open Court, and the prayer of the
same granted, end it is directed that an election be
held at the house of Henry Rea. in Pitt Township,
on Saturday. the 14th of June. between the hours of
9 A M. and 7 P M., said election tobe held by Walter
H Lowrie, Esq., John Murry, Esq., and David Gil
leland, Esq., who are hereby appointed fat that pur
pose, and that notice of said election be published in
the Morning• Post and Morning Chronicle, of the City
of Pittsburgh, for 10 successive days prior to same.

assignees, by advertisement for three weeks, in the
Daily Chronicle and the Daily Morning Post, setting
forth in said notice that the said account will be al
lowed, and confirmed by the Court, on Saturday, the
21st day of June next. unless cense be shown why
such account should not be allowed.
