Mit Oatlp Morning post. PITTSBURGH, PA. TUESDAY MORNING, MARCH 18, 1845 PITTSBURGH BOARD OF TRADE. COMMITTEE FOR MARCH. N. B. Craig, J. F. Kelly, A. Wylie, Jr last Is SUR/tete E.---We refer our readers to an ad vertisement of the "GIRARD LIFE INSURANCE, AN- Y, AND TRUST COMPANY OF PHILADELPHIA," who have appointed W B AKE:WELL, Esq, agent for this city. We have no doubt thnt many persons will em brace the opportunity it affords of protecting their fami lies in some degree against the consequences of their unexpected demise. Men are anxious to insure their houses, ships, goods or other products of their industry, so that they and their families may not be suddenly de prived of the means of living. Yet the loss of all these is easier borne by those dependant / him, than the sudden decease, of the head of a hOuselsold in moderate circumstances. The Life Assurance offers a remedy for such misfortunes, as far as they can be remedied. The Company also receives money in trust, and ap plies the same as the depositors may direct. A very useful feature of the Institution. M' The Packet Line on our Canal, have reduced the fare to Philadelphia to EIGHT DoLLArts. Last year it was $lO I5Vt , The steamboat captains have generally and promptly come into the measure of refusing to employ steamboat runners. DONT FORGET THE CONCERT at Duquesne Hall, to night. The fame of Me PR I ct.irs is established and a great musical treat ma}• be expected. Baow.—What is the use of making predictions about the weather? A fuw days ago we were satisfied that there would be no more cold weather. Yester day morning, the snow was 4 inches deep. It has since disappeared, however, and the streets are in a miserable condition. [ay. We beg leave to call the public attention to the valuable Lot of Ground, on Smithfield street, which will be sold at Auction, this morning, at 11 o'clock, on such terms as to tender it a desirable speculation. Since that street has been repaired and lighted, it furnishes one of the mrs:t convenient routs from the Canal Basin to the Alonongahela Wharf, and must shortly become one of the best business streets in the city.
