Secrreu FREE CHURCH Cut.Ling.—This New
College. in which about 500 clergymen seeedingfrom
the established Church, are interested, has recently
been opened under the most favcrable auspices. Dr.
Chalmers, at the opening of the Institution, dwelt
with great force and variety of illustration, on the ne
cessity of combining high seholaiship and spiritual
riga in the qualifications of the ministry. Mr Mil.
ler holds the otlico of tutor, and instructs in the read
ing of Greek and Latin fathers. Mr McDougal lec
ture. in Christian Ethics, and Isaac Taylor, author
of the natural history of Enthusiasms, on mental phi
losophy and logic. Drs Cunningham and Duncan lec
ture to a large theological class on Hrbrew.
Ls nos PORKER.—An enormous hog, weighing,
when dressed, one thousand and fifty-three pounds,
says the West Chester Jeffersonian, was slaughtered
at the Green Tree Hotel, Willistown township, in this
county, on the 4th inst. It was fed by Joseph Mot--
fan.

made this afternoon, of a Fite Proof Cheat, manufac
tured by Mr. Jas. Cochran, certify, that said ch-at
remained in the fire, which was fed and kept up during
