From Frazi,tr's Magazine. THE OLD YEAR'S TRACK. It bath sought that shadowy shore To the dreamer's memory known, To the place of the years that come no mote Hath the reinless pilgrim flown. And where shall a mortal searcher meet The track of those swift and soundless feet? In woods where another opting Its wealth of leaves bath piled O'er the silent city's mouldering In the far-forgotten wild. It bath cast a shadow of deepergloom O'er buried temple and ruined tomb. On the bills of ancient snow, Where another winter's might Math raised the rainbow towers that glow On the lonely glacier's height; 'Our hearths grow cold, and our temples hoar, But they grow in their glory ever more. in the deep where rocky isles Have risen above the foam, hath woke the first faint green that smiles By some future monarch's home; But the lark sent forth hope and prayer Lie low in the coral caverns there. In the city where the tide Of life rolls strong and deep, No trace by time's passing footsteps made Will those troubled waters keep; for wealth and, waste, and want sweep on, As they swept through the years of ages gone Sat, oh! in many a heart Of that deep, unsounded wave, It 'lath left a trace that will ne'er depart; Through the strenms of far time lave The ruins, and with blossoms fill Their wastes, they will be but ruined still. Perchance of forsaken love, Perchance of for. ' otten truth; , Or, it may be, an unforgotten grave, Where they laid the locks of youth. With hopes that have died when bright and high •Or memories dark that can never die. And thus have the years of earth /n their silence sped away, Yet the world unwearied still looks forth For the light of a better day! And, oh! that each swiftly closing year Might bring the dawn of that day more near 'Consumptives, read the Wonderful Cures performed by Dr. Swayne's Compound - Syrup of Wild Cherry. LAWRENCE AND H EN RICFSON New Ltbanon, Slate of New York WORTHY FRIER Dt—Having made a thorough trial of the Medicated Vavor Bath for four months past, in our societies in New Lebanon and Watervliet, we think it but justice to stall', that we consider it a valuabie improvement in the healing art. Its power in reduc ing both chronic and acute inflamation, also in remov ing spasms, is certainly very great. In cases of ob structed perspiration, it is unquestionably the safest and best remedy that we have ever seen. Several persons in our society, who were scarcely free from a catarrhal a f fection during most of the winter months fur several years past, have found permanent relief by using the Bath a few times; and the predisposition to take cold, as it is commonly termed, seems to be whol ly removed. Obstructed perspiration, is certainly in our changeable climate, one• of the most fruitful sour ces of disease, and any remedy that is capable of re moving the predisposition to it, must be considered a great blessing to mankind; and as such we do not hesi tate to recommend the Medicated Vapor Bath.
