SITICIDE.-A girl of bad character named MART
Ross,yesterday committed suicide by taking laudanum.
She was between 17 and 18 years of age, and lived
somewhere in Third street. No cause has been sesign
ed or dismiss . ncl for committing the deplorable act.
Itzsrvcrr.—Recently in the Legislature of this
State. the House laid on the table the bill to take the
sem of the people on the propriety of calling a con-
vention to amend the constitution of the State—and the
IS sate by the casting vote of the Speaker, refused to
w lay oa the table a bill to change and modify the law of
11133, prohibiting the importation of slaves into Ken
tucky.
The Committee appointed by the Democratic cid
sena assembled at the Conrt House to take order for
the reception of, the President of the United States,
will meet, according to adjournment, at the Exchange,
-this (Friday) evening, at 7 o'clock.
