, Our societies in New Lebanon and Watervliet,we think
it but justice to state, that we consider it a valuable
improvement in the healing art. Its power in reduc
ing both chronic and acuto inflamat ion, also in remov
ing spasms, is certainly very great. In caws of ob
wirer:AM perspiration. it is unquestionably the safest
and best remedy that we have ever seen. Several
persons in our society. who were scarcely free from a
catarrhal affection during most of the winter months
for several years past, have fatind permanent relief by
'using the Bath a few times; and the predisposition to
take cold, as it is commonly termed, seems to be what
ly removed. Obstructed perpitation, is certainly in
our changeable climate, one'bf the most fruitful sour
ces of disease, and any remedy that is capable of re
-moving the predisposition to it, must be considered a
great blessing to mankind; and as such we do not hesi
tute'to recommend the Medicated Vapor Bath.

obliged to leave my business and return home. I was

LUNGS.
Has now been before the puplic for several years
DUring which time its value has been tested by thoo
sands who were laboring under the numerousdisenses
which have their origin in a common Catarrh or Cold,
and which this medicine is designed to cure. The
result of this trial has been to place "Duncan's Reme
dy" at the head of the patent medicines of the day.
BY /TS OWN DEBITS AND ILICALLiNCE,
it has attained a popularity exceding that of any other
preparation. new offered to the pnblie for the preven•
don and cure of that large and frightful class of diseas
es which so frequently lead to. and terminate in
CONSUMPTION,
It is now offered to the afflicted with confidence as
the sxsr preparation for Coughs, Colds, &c. extant
We are warranted in assuming fur it this high charac
ter, by the proofs, which we are constantly receiving,
of the invaluable benefits derived from its use. Tea•
timoniuls and recommendations of the strongest kind
are constantly being received from all quarter, by the
Proprietor and Agents.
In relieving cases of Asthma, Difficulty in Breathing,
Pain in the Side and Breast, it is unequalled; in cur
ing Bronchitis, Coughs and Cold s, and in short remov
ing all the symptoms of approaching Pulmonary Con
sumption,
ITS SUCCESS HAS BEEN TINPARALKLLED.
No other medicine has proved itself so really inval
uable. Thousands in Pittsburgh and the vicinity, are.
as far as human agency is cnucernesl, indebted to Dr
Duncan's Expectorant Remedy for prolonging life and
health. Many persons after using the other cough
medicines of the day without effect, have been com
pletely restored by this truly
GREAT DISCOVERY in the HEALING ART.
A strong and undoubted evidence of is worth, is to
be found ;n the high degree of popular favor which it
has received since its introduction into the West.—
Whet ever an agency has been opened for its sale, and
wherever it has received a fair and honest trial, it bus
become firmly established as a
STANDARD FAMILY 'MEDICINE.
It is rapidly superseding the use of the many nos
trums, which have so long imposed upon the communi
ty, which have obtained their name only by polling
and braggadocia, and which are now destined to be
thrown aside to make way fur the best cough medicine
of the present age. It is nut pretended that it will
positively cure every case of the disease, for which it
is designed, but it is honestly believed that in every
case where it gets a fair chance it will effect a cure.
Coining, then, before the people with the highest
recommendations, it is at least, worthy of a trial by all
who are afflicted with any of that lurge and dungerou,
class of diseases.
The following is a specimen of the numerous test i
moeials which we have received. It is from u PHY
SICIAN of high standing in Ohio.
Dear Sir—Having had occasion to witness the ef
fect of Dr. Duncan's' Expectorant Remedy on Mr Eli
Young in a case of Pulmonary Consumption, I felt it
my duty to make a brief statement in order that others
that are or may be afflicted with the same complaint
may be benefitted by the same remedy.
He was attacked with inflammation in the left lobe
of tl.e lungs in March 1843, attended with acute pain,
great difficultyof breathing, and asevere cough, which
puoceded rapidly to suppuration: and not withstanding
tlpruse and application of the best remedies prescribed
by our authors, The complaint in a few days began to
exhibit evident symptoms of ulceration.
In this distressing stage of the complaint, I had re
coutse to Dr Dancan's Expectorant Remedy frit con
sumption, which had the effect of checking the disease
immediately, and in a few days the pain ceased, the
breathing became free and easy, the cough left him,
and the expectoration subsided, the consequences of
which was that In using six bottles he has recovered
his health, and is restored to his family.
1 do het eby certify the above to be true statement of
my case as far 114 'CMOs within my knowledge.

Then try this great tooth wash,
The Teaberry tooth wash.
And see if this tooth wash of Thorn's is not fine.
Having tried Dr. "Thorn's Tea Berry Tooth Wash,"
and become acquaintedvrith theingredients of its com
position, [cheerfully say, I considerit one of the safest,
as it is one of the most pleasant tooth washes now in
use. DAVID HUNT, Dentist.
Pittsburgh, Sept. 15, 184:2.
I take pleasure in stating, having made use of
"Thorn's Tea Berry ToothW ash," that it is one of the
best dentrifices in use. 'Being in a liquid form. it com
bines neatness with convenience. While it cleanses
the enamel and removes the tartar from the teeth, its
perfume yields a fragrance peculiarly desirable.
J. P. TIBBETTS, &. D.
The undersigned have used "Thorn's Compound
Tea Berry Tooth Wash," and have found it to be an
extremely pleasant dentrifice, exercising a melt salu
tary influence over the Teeth and Gums; preserving
those indispensable members from premature decay,
preventing the accumulation of Tartar, and purifying
the Breath. Having thoroughly tested its virtues, we
take pleasure in recommending it to the public, believ
ing it lo be the best article ofthekirld now in use.

HATHAWAY'S
Patent Hot Air Cooking Stoves.
THE subscriber having entered into the stove busi
ness in Pittsburgh, respectfully informs the pub
lic that he intends carrying it on in its various branches
at the warehouse of Messrs. Pennock & Mitchell. No.
160 Liberty street, where he will be prepared to supply
purchasers with any articles in his line. In addition
to other Stoves which he will have on hand, he has
obtained4he right to manufacture and sell Hathaway's
Patent Hot Air Cooking Stoves. This stove is pro
nounced superior to any other now in use in the United
States; it is more durable in its construction, and bet
ter adapted tothe use of baking, roasting and cooking,
as it is heated very regularly by confining the air in
the stove; and it is a great saving of fuel as well as
labor. I will keep on hand a sufficient number to sup.
ply all demands if possible; T have five ditferent sizes,
and will sell them on reasonable terms, according to
sizes. I hove now in use upwards of fifty in and about
this city; all pot in use within six months. Being a
ware that the People of Western Pennsylvania hove
been imposed upon by the introduction of new and high
ly recommended Stoves which were badly constructed,
and bavirg soon failed and become useless. I will grant
to persons wishing to procure the Hot Air Stove, the
privilege of using it a sufficient length of time to prove
its superior quality before I ask them to purchase.
Persons notifying me front a distance by letter, can
have stoves put up at any time, as I have wagons to
carry them out; [ therefore invite Farmers and all per
sons to conae and judge for themselves; also to try them
and prove that it is to your advantage to have one.
all orders will be promptly attended toby the subscri

RECOMM EN DATIONS.
Miller's Mansion House, Sept, 19, 1844.
Mr. R. Doe AVAS-Sirt I have in usp one of liath
awav's Hot Air Cooking Stoves, which I got from you
last Spring. It affords me much pleasure to recom
mend it for its excellence. So far as my knowledge
extends, I have no hesitation in saying it is the best
stove now in use. I need not particularize its merits,
but would advise all disposed to possess an article of
the kind, to adopt thetest method of satisfying them
selves, that is, to try it; and I doubt not they will be
satisfied. D. R. ;HILLER.
Washington Temperance House,
Pittsbargh, Sept. 19, 1894.
Mr. R. DONAVON-Sir.--/ have had in use for five
months, one of Hathaway's Hot Air Cooking Stoves,
and 1 have no hesitation in saying it is the best stove
now in use. The various kinds of cooking it is carcu
hued to do at the same time, and the small quantity
of fuel tequired, makes it an object worthy the atten
tion of all who desire a good stove.
t"P I embrace this opportunity to recommend the
Hot Air Cooking Stoves; I have used the one you put
up for me constantly all summer, and I must say it is
a grand article. I helicve it is superior to any other
stove now in use in this city. The oven bakes well,
and is large enough to bake four large loaves of breed
at one time; it also cooks very speedily, and it requires
very little coal, Itlrink them worthy the attention of all
who wish a good stove; to such I would say, try them
and prove what they are.
