It is not generally known, but nevertheless true, that .
Drugs and spices sold in the East, are lower in price
than whole, of course the profit and cost of grinding
must be made up by adulteration; dye woods have at
least 15 per tent, and in some cases 25 per cent• of
water added to them. Now water, dust, cornmeal
' and flaxseed meal are plenty here, and we can eat
them in their purity, if so it pleases us, without psy
ing a pepper price with freight and premium added.
