Fourteen Days Later From Europa,
The steamship Caledonia. Capt. E, G. Lott, arrived
at Boston on Saturday morning, at 10 o'clock, In 174
days from Liverpool. She brought 38 passengers to
Halifax, landed i 3 and took in 6, making 41 to Boston.
She has had an unusually rough time, having ODCOIIII*
_tered several severe gales, besides being detained elf
Halifax and Boston harbors by dense fogs two days.
She has lost two of her lite boats, had her bulwarks
land wheel house stove in, and sustained other alert
damage.
The Acadia arrived at Liverpool at 6 o'clock on the.
morning of the 14th, making the passage in 13 days.
All the world, except Spain, seems at peace, end
commerce is thriving everywhere.
In Ireland all has remained quiet for some time, the
Liberattr having been refreshing himself after his in
carceration with the mountain breezes of Derryosne,
bat he has recently given notice of his intention to vidt
the Conciliation Hall and resume his active labors for
the regeneration of his country.
Mr O'Connell, in a long letter addressed to the Rte
peal Association, intimates that the English Whip
have balked the efforts which were being made to get
up a demonstration in favor of Federalism on the other
side of the channel.
Mr O'Connell concludes thus:--'ln fine, then, fid

strong resolutions were adopted for securing the repeal

as Maine, from the Whigs. No accounts have yet
been received from the Empire State, New York, but
the - ,Democratic party has generally had the ntajoilty
in that State. The Whigs are apparently making
great efforts, and their union with the Native Ameri
can, Orange and Anti-Irish party, shows that they ate
anything but nice in the choice of their allies.
