SATURDAY MORNING, NOYEMBEs, 2, 1844
-Mt3s CL►RcsDOtt.—By reference to our advertia
ing columns, it will be seen that this lady will give,
this evening, at Duquesne Hall, a aeries of well cho
rea Dramatic Readings. Theentertainment promises
to be unusually interesting, and will no doubt draw a
full house.
HLIIIIIIA.—Those affected with this diseaae, should
attend to DR. DuAWN'S advertisement in anotbercol
umm His references are of the first order, and the
cares babas accomplished won lerful.
The Prussian, Thaler.—There are a good many
silver coins of the denomination of the Prussian Tha
ler in circulation, whiA are frequently paid and re
ceived as if they were of the value of the American
dollar; ova fraction less. The true value of this coin
is declared in the authentic publication issued by the
officers of the U S Mint, entitled "A Manual of Gold
and Silver Coins of all nations." The Manual says:
"The Prussian Thaler is of unusually low standard,
being only three fourths (750 thousandtlo fine. The
weight of the thaler should be 349,76, grains troy, and
its value, at full standurd+, would be 69,4 cents, but
as they are found in cunency the average scarcely at:-
ceeds 68& cents."
near tho words of an old Soldier.
PHILADELPHIA., August 16
To the Public.—lVben a soldier in the American
Camp, in 1778, I, with trimly others (owing to great
exposure,) had a violent attack of disease of the
Lungs, by which I was disabled from duty fur a long
time. Since that period until recently, I have never
been free from cough and difficulty of breathing. Year
after year I have expectorated over a gill a day; often
much more, and sometimes mixed with blood. For
months together. night after night, I have had to sit
.or be bolstered up to obtain my breath. The weakness
and debility caused by such constant expectoration,
frequently brought me to a state bordering on death.
I have had skilful physicians to attend me, and every
thing done that was thought likely to give me relief,
without any beneficial effect. Last winter I had an
other very severe attack of inflammation of the Lungs,
which I fully expected would be the last. I then
considered my case as past the aid of medicine, when
I was advised to use JAYNE'S EXPECTORANT.
I did so, with a strong hope, thnt, RS it had cured ma
ny of my acquaintances of various diseases of the
Lungs, it might et least mitigate my sufferings. Need
I say bow gratified I feel. IT HAS EFFECTUAL
LY CURED 4E As soon as I commenced taking
it, I found it reached my case, and I began to breathe
with more freedom. My expectoration became easy,
and my cough entirely left me. I now feel as well as
ever l did in my life, a• d am better than I have been
fur the last SIXTY YEARS. Now, after suffering
so l.mg, and finding at last such signal relief, from
Dr. Jayne's expectorant. I feel anxious to inform my
fellow citizens where relief may be had.

GREAT DISCOVERY in the HEALING ART.
strong and undoubted evidence of is worth, is to
be found ;n the high degree of popular favor which it
has received since its introduction into the West.—
Wherever an agency has been opened fur its sale, and
wherever it has received a fair and honest trial, it has
become firmly established as a
STANDARD FAMILY MEDICINE.
It is rapidly superseding the use of the many nos
trums, which have so long imposed upon the commitni
ty, which have obtained their name only by puffing
and braggadocio, and which are now destined to be
thrown aside to make way for the best cough medicine
of the present age. It is not pretended that it will
positively cure evety case of the disease, for which it
is designed, but it is honestly believed that in every
case where it gets a fair chance it will effect a cure.
Coming, then, before the people with the highest
recommendations, it is at least, worthy of a trial by all
who are afflicted with any of that large and dangerous
class of diseases.
The following is a specimen of the numerous testi
monials which we have received. It is from a PHY
SICIAN of high standing in Ohio.
Dear Sir—Having had occasion to witness the ef
fect of Dr. Dancan's Expectorant Remedy on Mr Eli
Young in a case of Pulmonary Consumption, 1 felt it
my duty to make a brief statement in order that others
that are or may he afflicted with the same complaint
may be benefitted by the same remedy.
Ho was attacked with inflammation in the left lobe
of the lungs in March 1843, at ended with acute pain,
great difficulty of breathing, and a severe cough, which
preceded rapidly to suppuration: and not withstanding
the use and application of the best remedies prescribed
by am authors, the complaint in a few days began to
exhibit evident symptoms of ulceration.
In this distressing stage of the complaint, I had re
cause to Dr Duncan's Expectorant Remedy fix con
sumption, which had the effect of checking the disease
immediately, and in a few days the pain ceased, the
breathing became free and easy, the cough left him,
and the expectoration subsided, the consequences of
which was that in using six bottles he has recovered
his health, and is restored to his family.
1 do hereby certify the above to be true statement of
my case as far as comes within my knowledge.

as it is heated very regularly by roaming the air in
the stove; and it is a great saving of fuel as well as
