Wholesale Druggists, Grocers, &c.,
WOULD be consulting their own, and the inter
est of their customers, to a very great extent,
by purchasing Spices, Drugs and Dye Wooods in the •
Eastern markets, whole and in sticks, and getting
thorn ground and chipped at the Franklin Manufacto
ry, Second street.
It is not generally known, but nevertheless true, that
Drugs and spices sold in the East, are lower in price
than whole, of course the profit and cost of grinding
must be made up by adulteration; dye woods have at
least 15 per cent, and in some cases 25 per cent of
water added to them. Now water, dust, cornmeal
and flaxseed meal are plenty here, and we can eat
them in their purity, if so it pleases us, without pay
ing a pepper price with freight and premium added.
