It is not generally known, but nevertheless true, that
Drugs and spices sold in the East, are lower in' price
than whole, of course the profit and cost of grinding
must be made up by adulteration; dye woods have . at
least 15 per cent, and in some cases 25 per cent of
water added to them. Now water, dust, - cornmeal
and 11.,xseed meal are plenty here, and we can eat
them in their purity, if so it pieases us, without pay
ing-a pepper-price with freight nod premium added.
