    if tlaily Morning Posti
PffTSBURGH, P 4.
FRIDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 6
THLATIIE.—Miss Clarendon opened the Theatre,
for the fall season, on Wednesday night. If we may
judge Iron the acting on that evening, the company is
an excellent one—many of them are old favorites in
Pittsburgh, and need no puffing from us. We don&
not that the season will be a profitable one foi the
ManagiSress.
f' Yesterday afternoon, a man named Fitzgerald
wag arrested fora brutal assault end battery upon his
wife: He made such desperate resistance that the pir
%pit were obliged to tie his hands behind him before
- conveying him to the Mayor's office. He was com
mitted. The poor woman was so much injured that
Phe was unable to appear against him at present.
ARRIVAL OF THE HIBERNIA
3 DAYS LATER FROM EUROPE.
Thesteamer Hibernia, arrived at Boston, at 4 o'-
clock, P. M., on Sunday, bringiag Liverpool advice.
to theileth. This fast sailing steamer made the pas
sage in twelve days, bringing 137 passengers.
?he general state of trade remained about the same.
Trouble between France and England is confidently
expected to be the resnit of the bothardment of Tan
gier. What will England do.
It is thought that the abdication of Mehemet Ali
will lead to serious consequences.
Themost important piece of news by this arrival is
from Moroico. The French Itad bombarded Tangier,
as before reported, and had virtually taken possession
of Mexico.
EXPLOSION_ AND Lou Or larx.---The locomotive
"Richmond," exploded when tboot two miles above

conductor, and two firemen. Their bodies were

riVKICP N Era RATNICR, of North Carolina. and
' Jos. R. UNDIMWOOD, of Kentucky, were Vice Presi-
dents of the late whig Conventiot at Nashville. These
gentlemen were whig members f Congress in 1842.
and voted against the present Tcriff Bill. Verily, the
whip give "honor to whom Amor is due."
13:rThe whig papers are noidng over the recovery
isof Jona M. Botts, the Tyler "leader" from severe
lTress. Mr. Borrs is now w"rkrig for CLAY as hard
. he worked to defeat the Tariff 13111 of 1842.
A Guts:sons FAULT.—Some of the whig papers
lave discovered that the "persond pronouns I, my,
me," are used one hundred and fory-two times in Pre.
sident T3der's laiii letter. Could my thing be more
shocking than thlt, and is it any weder that the virtu.
ens whip should oppose him after uch an exhibition
of his political dishonesty.
