Moat STAIIISI6I3.—We are pained that we have I notice another case of stabbing, resulting we fear, in ie death of an 014 and rrkectable citizen. On Monday escsri4, about dark, a man named 'own, dtabbed Mr John Anderson, the Toll Collector t the Upper Allegheny Bridge, in the abdomen with chisel. The wound is about two inches in length, and Kteacts through the coats of the st.unach. Drs Hes t", McCracken and Fahnestock dressed and stitched re wound, and rendered every attention in their ewer, but with little hopes. Down was arrested - wetly after the commission of the act at a pole_raising r the sth ward, and taken to the residence of Mr An. arson, who immediately , recognized him as the man. 'he circumstances may be gathered from the following epoeition of Mr Anderson, which we copy from the !hronicle: Try OF PITTSBURGH, es. John Anderson, being duly armed according tolaw, eposes and says: I went into the toll-house to take the Al from a couple of men, and as I was making change ds man ran past. I called to him to come back; he id not come, and I ran after him and he threw the , nts on the ground. and I caught hold of him and as I id so, he turned around and stabbed me. After he ebbed me I picked up a stone to throw at him, and in after him holding my bowels. I then called to Mr gArphy to catch this man as he had murdered me. I )Id him twe or three times before he seemed to un emend me. I then went into the toll-house. On aturday night our young man stopped this same rpan nd we had some difficulty with him. He said he was the of Moorhead's men and would go over when he leased, and we had some difficulty and words. This t the man. lam perfectly - in my senses and know him ergently. Sam knows that ho is the same man with rhOM WS bad the difficulty on Saturday night. As ear as I could see when he stabbed me the weapon ,as a chisel. This was on Monday evehing, August 9, 1844.
