WARD Mairrinos.—Meetings will be held in the

the coming election, and to make arrangements for the
meeting of next Saturday, we hope there will be a gen

131 1 Me should bavo added, in regard to the objects
of the Native American meeting, that they had a piece
of Axes which they wished to make up into a mayor.
COROR ZR'S Istantsrs.--Coroner HARTZ held an

the jail of this county. The verdict of the Jury was
that he came to his death from exposure.
An inquest was held on Friday, in St. Clair town
p, on the body of a stranger named Valentine Vine.
The verdict was that he came to his death by acciden
taldrowning in the Monongahela River.
T HIGATAX , -.lllr LA FORRKST has opened with a

to meet the pacnigke of our play goers. The "Dumb

WICISTZIIt received in a single year more thtn $15,000
each from the United States Bank, for alleged "pro

wages" the coons are so constantly bilking about.
ANOTHER SPARK CATCHER.
Mr Fleming, the foreman at the Depot at this place.
has iavented•and constructed a Spark Catcher, which
bids fair to supply a long existing deficiency.
Mr. F. has one of his Spark Catchers on the Lai
Fayette Locomotive, on the level between Planes 9 &
10, and so far. it has worked admirably. Riding on
the locomotive, or in front of the cars. neither sparks
or dust can be perceived, and when tried at night, we
are told not a spark was visible.
Mr. F's. Spark Catcher possesses in a great degree,
the distinguishing characteristic of all really useful in.
v entions--simplicity; and while we congratulate him
on his success, we can also congratulate the travelling
community, the engineers, and the owners of property
on the line of railroads, on the probable termination of
their danger and annnyances.

Strike of the Journeymen Tailors.—Th e Jour
neymen Tailors turned out in procession yesterday,
numbering we should judge full two thousand, with
their banners and music. They are on a stand for bet
ter wage,, asking but a moderate increase upon the
pay they now receive. We trust they may succeed,
and that the employing tailor s will not withhold from
the Illpenttive %hut but ajust demand. Nine-tenths
of them are men of family and the daily pittance flow
received is lets than a moiety of "two dollars a day
and Roast Beef.' Theirlife is one of continual toil and
.anxiety under the most favorable circumstances and
in their present demand for increased wages the whole
community sustains them. The sooner the employ.
ere manfully come in the better for all concerned.
