Showeth—That Daniel O'Connell, a member of your
honorable housr,and John O'Connell, another mem
ber of your honorable house, and five other gentlemen,
are at ',resent in this city, under a conviction for the
crime of conspiracy.
That the conviction upon which they have beat im
prisoned
appears to your petitioners to be opposed to
roiled: utional principles.
That your petitioners are convinced that the said
I prisoners have not had a fair trial.
That the law of conspiracy, as it bas been applis4

bout 9 o'clock at night. the Planing, Grooving, and
Sash Mlnufactory. owned by Gay, Dilworth & Co.,
with a large quantity of dressed and undressedlumber,
vas all consumed by fire.
The Iron Safe which I bought of you some time
back was in the most exposed situation during
the fire, and was entirely red hot. lam pleased to in
form rip it was opened at the close of the fire, and all
books, papers, &c.. s aved;—thts is the beet recommen

conducted on fair andjust principles; that the jury
panel, the safety of the innocent, was fraudulently

challenge to the array was offered to your best officer,
he declined it.
That one of your Majesty's justices in your own
court, the Court of Queen's Bench,iu Ireland, where
your Majeity is supposed to be present stated on sever
al arcasions, that this dealing with the jury panel-was
mauer of grave suspicion, that the crows solicitor
struck out the names of every person on the jury list
who was of the religious belief of the principal prises- -
er, thus wounding the feelings of the majority of your
Majesty's faithful servants in Ireland, and holding up.
the professors of that religion, which is the ore profes
sed by the majority of the inhabitants of the Christian
.world; as persons nut deemed worthy of credit cm their ,
oaths.
"That evidence had been laid before the jury by the
judges, which one of the court, on the motion for a new
trial, said ought to be submitted to their consideration,
and which in Eugland, the more favored part of your
empire, would not be brought before the jury by the .
•udges there.
"By this means lens one who was deemed, and just
ly so, a benefactor of his fellow-countrymen,doe man
who created a public ppinion in Ireland , a nd thereby
caused the great ?pct of Emancipation to become law,
and raised his fellow countrymen to the station of free
citizens, one of the highest ornaments in your Maier
ty'sdonsinions, and that too, pending an appeal ware
highest court of judicature in the land, is now a prise-
ner in one of your Majesty's prisons in Ireland.
"We therefore humbly approach your Majesty,
praying that your Majesty will be graciously pleased
to relieve the administration of justice in Ireland from
the disrepute which these proceedings have brought s
upon it, and 4treserve unimpaired to your Majesty's
subjects in Ireland the right of free discussion of pee .
