DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CONVENTION.
The Democratic Committee of Correspondence for
the county of Allegheny met, pursuant to the call of
tho Chairman, at the house of H. Caraiday, on Satur
-1:14 the 26th May, 1844: when
Revolved, That a County Convention be called to
meet at the new Court House in the city of Pittsburgh,
on Wedneaday"the 19th day of June next, for the put.
pope of ormninating a County Ticket, to be supported
by the Democratic citizens at the ensuing October
election.
In pursuance of the foregoing resolution, the Demo
era* ekitens of the various Townships, Districts and
Borba& in the county, are requested to meet at their
usual' plates'on Saturday the 15th dime next, and elect
4each two delegates to meetin County Convention on
Wednesday the 19th June. The meetings in the various
Wept', Pitt Township. and Boroughs of Birming
ham, Lawrenceville and Sharpsburgli, will beheld be
tween the hours of 7 and 9 o'clock, P. M., and in the
balsam of the districts between the hours of 3 and 5

DELAWARE CANAL COMPANY.
'Mat undersigned Commissioners named in the
11.. Act of Assembly passed the 30th day of April,
1844; entitled "An Act to authorize the Governor to
incoiporatti the Delaware Canal Company," hereby
give notice, that in pursuance of the provisions of the
said act, they will attend at the Merchants' Exchange.
in the city of Philadelphia, on MONDAY, the sth day
of- August next, at 10 o'clock, A. M., and there com
mence the sale of the stock of the. Delaware Canal
*Company, on the following terms and conditions, to
wit
lst. The Delaware Division of the Pennsylvan'a
Canal Saudi be divided into twenty-five thousand shares,
of one hundred dollars each.
2d. The shares shall be set up for sale singly, giv
ing the purchaser the right of taking at his bid any
number of shares from one to one thousand; Provided,
That no share shall be sold for a less sum than one
hundred dollars; and provided further, that none of the
said Commissioners, either in theii‘ own names, cr in
the names of stny other persons, she become purchas
•ers of any of the stock at the sale authorized by thu
said Act of Assembly.
3d. Each purchaser, at the time of his pnrchnse,
shall deposit with the Commissioners the premiums
•or advance above the par value of the shares by him
.purchased, or if the bid or bids do not amount to five
• dollars per share, above the par value of the share or
shares by him purchased, then and in such case the
said, purchasers shall pay five dollars on account and
in part of each share thus purchased, the said sums to
be paid in money, (or in the certificates of loan of the
'ommonwealth of Pennsylvania, at the option of the
purchaser.)
4th. Payment for the remainder of the purchase
money will be required to be made within thirty days
front the purchase, under the forfeiture fur delinquency
of the amount paid to the Commissioners at the time
of sale.
sth. A transfer to the Commonwealth of Pennsylva
nia of certificates of the 'netts of the Commonwealth
of Pennsyhontie,- to an equal amount will bo received
by the State Treasurer in payment for the shares of
stock purchased, and any money deposited with the
Commissioners at the sale, will also be exchanged by
the State Tretsurer fora transfer of the said loans to
the Cottunbnwealth, to an equal amount.
6th ShouM aria whole of the shares not be sold on
'the first day, the sales will be adjourned to the next
:and succeeding shirts, if necessary, for nineteen days
-in succession, and if, on the twentieth day, it shall ap
pear thet les" than twenty-five thousand shares sha ll
,have been sold, in that case the sales shall be declared
-void, and the deposit's' made with the commissioners
shall be returned to the purchasers respectively.
.7th.' Every purchaser shall, at the time of his per
-Claus, subscribe in a book which will be presented to
him by the commissioners, the following agreement:
"We whose names are hereunto subscribed do prom
ise to transfer or cause to be transferred to the com
monwealth of Pennsylvania. one hundred dollars, in
the loans of said commonwealth, fur every share of
-stock set opposite to our respective names, in case
twenty fi.e thousand shares shall be sold, pursuant to
-an act of the General Assembly of this commonwealth,
entitled an act to authorize the Governor to incorporate
the. Delaware canal company. Witness our hands,
this day of Anno Domini, one thousand

13th day ofJune, A. D. 1844, at the Court House is
the city of Pittsburgh aforesaid, at 10 o'clock A. M.,
of said day, four certain contiguous lots or pieces of
ground, situate in St. Clair township, Allegheny coun
ty aforesaid in the town of Birmingham, invoked in the
general plan of said town, Nos. 94, 95, 101 and 102;
bounded by lots Nos 87 and 88; by Neville street, by
other ground, and by the Monongahela river. The
said lots 95 and 102, containing tcgedier in breadth on
Neville st. aforesaid 120 feet, and in length 95 feet—
and the said lots 94 and 101. containing together in
breadth 120 feet, and in length from said lots 95 and
102, to the Monongahela river, with the appurtenan
