DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CONVENTION.
-The Democratic Committee of Correspondence for
the county of Allegheny met, pursuant to the call of
the Chairman, at the house of H. Cassiday, an Satur
day the 26th May, 1844: when
Rumfeed. That a County Convention be culled to
meet at the new Court House in the city of Pittsburgh,
On Wednesday the 19th day of.lime next, fur the put
pl)fe of arminnting a County Ticket, to be supported
by the Democratic citizens at the ensuing October
elect ion.
In pursuance of die foregoing resolution, the Demo
cratic citizens of the various Townships. Districts owl

usual places on Saturday the 15th June next, mil elect

TBE undersigned Commissioners named iu the
Act of Assembly passed the 30th day of April,
1844, emitted " An Act to authorize the Governor to
incorporate the Delaware Canal Company," hereby
give notice, that in put :mance. of the provisions of the
said act, they will attend at the Merchants' Exchange,
in the city el Philadelphia, on NIONDAY. the :lilt du
or August next, at 10 o'clock, A. M., anti there com
mence the sale of the stock of the Delaware Canal
Company, on the following terms and conditions. to
111 ' suit:
Ist. The Delaware Division of the Pennsylvania
Canal shall be divided into twenty-five thousand shares.
of one hundred dollars each.
td. The shares shall be set up for sale Finely, giv
ing the purchaser the right of taking at his bid anv
number of shares from one to one thousand; l'ruvideil,
That no share shall be bold for a less .sum than one
hundred dollars; and provided further, that none of the
said Comeissioners, either in their own names, cr in
the names of any other persons, shall become purchas
ers of any of the Mock at the sale audwirizod by the
said ACt of Afieitshly.
3d Each purchaser, at the time of his parchase,
shall deposit with the Commissioners the premiums
or advance above the par value of the shares by him
purchased, or if - the bid or bids do not amount to five
dollars per share. above the par value of the share or
shares*, iOre purchased, then and
in such case the
said pacebasers shall pay five dollars on account and
in part of each share thus purchased, there'd sums to
be paid in totiney, (or in the certificates of loan of the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at the option of the
purchaser.) •
4th. Payment for the remainder of the purchase
mono] will be required to he made within thirty days
-from the purchase, under the forfeiture fur delinquency
of the amount paid to the Commissioners at the time
of sale,.
. sth. A transfer to the Commonwealth of Pennsylva
nia of certificates of the loans of the Commonwealth
of .Pennsylvania, to an equal amount will be received
by , the State Treasurer in payment for the shares of
" 1 stock purchased, and any money deposited with the
Commissioners at the sale, will also be exchanged by
Abe State Treasurer fur a transfer of the said loans to
'the Commonwealth, to an equal amount.
6th Should the whole of the shares not be sold on
the firstday, the sales will be adjourned to the neat
and succeeding days, if necessary, for nineteen days
ha succession, and if, on the twentieth day, it shall Bp
per that.ktss than twenty-tive thousand shrines shall
bare been sold, io that case the sales shall be declared
void, and the deposites made with the commissioners
shall be.returned to the purchasers respectively.
7th. Every purchaser shall, ut the time of his pur
chase, subscribe in a book which will be presented to
him by the commissioners, the following agreement:
"We whose names are hereunto Sularcribt-d do prom
he to transfer or cause to be transferred to the Com
monwealth of Pennsylvania. one hundred dollars, in
the loans of said commonwealth, fin every share of
stock set opposite to our respective names, in case
twenty 6.e thousand shares shall he sold, pursuant to
an act of the General Assembly of this commonwealth,
entitled an act to authorise the Governor to incorporate
