IrriTiliaJitGit, PA. TUESDAY MORNING, MAY 28, 1844. • ALt.sostivry Cive.--Tho people of this knit* , *sad prosperous town are io fine spirits, and slim untemellyelated with the partial damage to the Am*. dam The water bas aeon removed from that struct ure in ardor to its immediate and thorough repair, and in the meantime, boato steam leading and receiv inTfreights et the temporary warehensesidong the ca nal in our sister city. The Alleghenian s look for gt eat results to their town from the total failure of the Aque duct, an event which some of them confidently predict ed. To show the lively interest they take in the mat ter, one °fibs& prominent citizens assured., us yester day, that. "every creak in the Aqueduct made property rise la Allegheny city," Well, we must submit with what grace we can, or if we should be compelled to lose the canal trade fur want of a trunk to carry the water across the river, and if Pittsburgh can't have it, we should as lief see Allegbeoy enjoy it as any place we know of. • [The attention of Capitalists, Lumbermen an Mechanics is invited to the advertisement in this day's paper of the sale of Lots in the town of Ridgewey, the seat of justice for the new county of Elk. This town is within the mineral region, at the Clarion River, which is navigable, and in a very few years must be en important place, as the depot for extensive iron works in the vicinity. and manufacturing of alt kinds of lumber, die. The trade of the Allegheny and its navigable tribu taries is becoming too important an ite.n in the trade of Pittsburgh to pass without notice. While the vari ous improvements carried on and extended by our en. terprising neighbors is continually encroaching and cutting off our trade in various sections, the trade of the Allegheny all centres here, and as the country is opened above must necessarily increase—it cannot be taken away: while the continued improvements in the steam boat and keel navigation on the Allegheny river is opening new avenues of trade for Pittsburgh man - afacturei and western productions. The iron and lumber districts on the west branch of the Susque hanna will soon obtain all their supplies from here. Provisions, such as Pork, Bacon, and Flour, and Mo lasses, Sugar and Coffee can be shipped cheaper from this quarter than any other. Pork has been taken to Warren by steam boats this spring at one dollar per bbl. and goods at 50 cu per 100 lbs. Fro.n Warren, East, through the town of Ridgeway. to the Susque hanna and Harrisburgh, is a turnpike road, and the teams that transport iron front the Centre co unty and works West, take back the goods in:returg. An investment in property any where on the waters of the Allegheny is a safe one, and the preont sale of fora inducements that seldom occur in the erection of a new county. The sales will unquestionably run COT"- paratively km; the proprietors of the site having in view the improver:wet of the place and county, more than any trifling speculation usually regarded. THZLTRE.—Tonight, Mr Addams repeats his beau tiful personation of Hamlet. We are bat expressing the opinion of all who saw himt in that character last week, when we say that t oorebeontiful and finished acting has newer been wit nessed is this city, and we are quite ..iertain that the announcement of his t epetition of the pact to night will insure a crowded house.
