AMERICAN WHEAT TO CANADA
The New York American says:—The great breadth
''-of land sowed with wheat in the new States border
ing or which have ready.access to, the lakes, ren
-der the condition of .the English curn laws a subject
of much interest; for if they remain unchanged, a con
siderable and profitable business will be carried on in
wheat through Canada; whereas any such altered on
as would substitute a fixed low duty for the , present
sliding seale, trould entirely exclude imports from the
United States, even indirectly, by reason of the cheaper
supplies from the Baltic and the nearer ports on the
Baltic-and the Black sea. Takin g it for granted,
'from the direct declarations on th e subject by Sir
Robt. Peel, that the corn laws aro not to be touched,
-it is probable a large business will be done in trans

the enamel and removes the tartar from the teeth, its !
perfume yields a fragrance peculiarly desirable.
