they are without it..
It seems incredible that any man wh,) can build a
steamboat, should neglect to furnish it with the cure
moans of protection which Mr. Evans can furnish.—
His own interest, if nothing else, should prompt him
to furnish his boat with a "Guard." He invests thou
can& in a boat, which may be entirely lost by the ex- r
plosion of* boiler; and he is certain that the least darn-
age that can possibly-occu r by suet an accident willcost
him much more to repair than the price of a "S.riety
Guard." Even if a man is sceptical as to the utility of
gars l
Mr, Evans'

Y MORNING, NO
Wirrxe.--Yesterday morning looked as much lilt,
witer, as any day we desire to see for the next six
monifis. The ground was covered with snow, arid
throughout the 41a'y the atmosphere continued wet, chil
ly and altogether unpleasant. It w u s just such a day
as would make a beef -eating Englishman think favora
blyof committing suicide, and give persons of less san
guinary dispositions, the blues most horribly. It was,
in fact, a dirty day, and such as we have no wish to
see many of in the course ofour life-time. The labor,
anxiety and difficulties thatpi•inter s and editors have to
encounter in the course of their business, scarcely af
ford them time to qitartel with the weather, but for the
sake *four fellow creatures who have the means to en
joy the' luXury of a pleasant day. or for those who have
ne means at all,and are therefure subjected to the 'pea
ings of the pitiless storm,' we would pray that days
like yesterd ty maybe 'few and far between'
