MORE ROWS IN BALTIMORE.
In addition to the two disturbances mentioned in
yesterday's paper, we find the following in the Balti

"On Wednesday afternoon, whilst a young man
teamed John Ralf, accompanied by a friend, was ri

street, he was struck on the head with a brickbat, pro
s ~jetted from a crowd assembled in the vicinity of the
United Fire Company's engine house, which felled him
in the vehicle, producing a deep aid dangerous cut,
from which blood flowed copiously. He was taken
to the office of Dr. Smith, and received surgical aid,
though suffering greatly from the wound. It could not

so daring an outrage was perpetrated.
"Between three and four o'clock. on Wednesday
morning, another shameful affray occurred in Howard
street, between Lombard and Baltimore street:. A
party of young men were attacked with brickbats and

siles were thrown against the doors and windows,
breaking them to atoms. Pave m ents were

PARSNIPS AS FOOD FOR PIGS.
Whilst staving in the Isle of Guernsey fir a couple
et months in the summer of 1341, says a correspondent
the London Farmer's Chronicle, I aas much pleas
ed with the peculiarly fine flavor of the pork, being
sweet, juicy, firm and beautifully white, at a season
the year when that unclean animal is thought not to be
in the highest perfection. mis superiority in flavor
arid appearance, is attributed to the plentiful ,apply of
raw parsnips with which the animal is f.d. In con
firmation of an I/Myer:sally adm:tted Not, I b.•g to send
pea the following extract from a lately pliblisheil
ry of the island and its products:—••liiigs prefer raw':
parsnips to all other rams, and make excellent pork
when fed upon diem; but the bui:iaz of the root refl..'
tiers the bacon (ibby. By this 1041 the anim
fitted in six weeks. Tan mach can hardly be said in
praise of the beef amid pork fatted on parsnips.
At this time (July 17th, 1830) there is in the Guern
sey market. a parker, 22 months old, weighing neat
7:10 lbs., English. which has never eaten any thing but
raw parsnips and sour milk; finer meat was never seen.
In the use of parsnips, one caution is absolutely neces
sary—they are never to be washed, but to be given as
they are taken up from the ground. Used in that way,
they are found nut to surfeit the begs and cattle, and to
fatten them better and quicker than they othccwise
would. If washed they are apt to satiate, and as the
farmers say, will never tboroualdrfatten them. An
ox will eat 120 lbs per day, elusive of hay."
