The fore part of the day was dark and lowering, and many feared that the display of the nomparries, for which they had made such ex tensive preparations, would be marred by wet weather. It cleared up for a short time about noon, but before the parade was over, a drizzling rain commenced whichWlLS very unpleasant, and destroyed much of the beautiful effect of the parade. The companies met in Liberty street at the hour ap pointed, and formed in procession in the following or der r ens, r Earle Hose—dressed in Uniform; with banner of a sr, Engle, in front• Eagle Engine--dressed in citizen's dress• Allegheny Engine and llose--vrbite shirts and pants; fire hats. Duquesne Engine and Hose—blue shirts and white pant fire hats. Neptune Engine and hose—drawn by 4 horses, with picture of Neptune. Light blue shirts, white pluits and glazed hats. Niagara Engine and Hose—drawn by four horses. Red shirts (with star on the breast,) white pants and fire Bats. Vigibustßose--recl shirts, with white collars, white pants and fire hats. Washington Engine and Hose—drawn by four hor sas; white shirts and pants, fire hats. Wm. Penn Engine and Hose—check sh;rts, black . pants, citizen's hats. Uncle Sans Engine—drawn by six ponies, tandem; white shirts with blue collars, white panu, and fantas tic four-cornered hats. Many curious devices were seen in the procession.— The Duquesne bad five little boys, dressed as papooses, who looked quite interestinz and on the Washington stood the very impersonation of a Brave, smoking his pipe, 'and scowling terribly on the "pale faces" around him. A member of the Eagle, was armed with a wood en sword, foe feet long, and strutted along, with all the superiority of a Gulliver among Lilliputians. Most of the companies were attended by a full band of music, and the excellent arrangements and perfect order that prevailed the wh.le procession, made it one of the Most interesting displays that has ever been wit nessed in our city. THE DEMOCRATIC MEETI2 , G of Saturday night was roarer. The people were there in their majesty and strength. Owing to the inclement state of the evening, the meeting adjourned from BrOUflhUrlq . l. yard to the United States Hotel, where excellent, stirring -mid cot.- incing addresses were delivered by Judge Andre,. Burke, Thomas Hamilton. and:the Hon. John T. Mason, of Maryland. It must have been d source of pride to every democrat present, to observe how calmly and how triumphantly Judge Wilkins vindica "tea himself from the. mafignant and molt groundless charges of Craic and his "sutlers." lie hurled de fiance itt his acetnr2es,and dared them to a public dis cussion of their principles and their claims to the sup port of the voters Will they be manly enough to ac cept his propositionl Not they, we %via venture to predict. Tlu fulloaingr,,solution was adopted: Resolved, That this meeting adjourn W mvel. at Broadkarst' , Mansion [louse on Friday evening next, at 7 o'clock, and thatthe Congressionalcandidates, and 'ho sulotitutes, are hereby invited to attend for the put 'Arse of tli4Ca334:lL , the lemling principles of th..!ir rattier:, Tara, Nitionki Bank, Land Bill, &c. &c. The bare announcement of this fact is suffteient to insure the attendance of every bixly. ggr' Our friend Sl3Ugert, Sheriff of Venango county, heads a Proclamation for the election, by fervently ex claiming, "God save the Commonwealth!" There has been a "revival" in Venango, we guess. Or The River at Cincinnati was fulling rapidly a the latest dates, with nine feet water to Louisville. LECTURE WI IRISH Htstovt..lr.
