A'. letter in the Register gives an account of some disorders at Canton on the 12th of April, but they pro dueeck no very serious results. The disturbance arose between *VU'S "fast boat" men and the keeper& of a ga minghowe. The Chinese soldiers interfered, to the number of about two hundred; but taking part with the gaming house people, they were attacked by the crews of all the "(list boats." One oldie boatmen was killed and another fatally wounded. The people at Whampon had sent up a deputation to remonstrate against the English being allowed to build factories there.
