COULT)'NT COME IT.
A chap, wearing a velvet coat, tried on a game rather
cute, on Saturday morning last, but he couldn't come it
quite. A gentleman in the bar room of Mr. Alexander
Brannan, in Fish Market space, accidentally. dropped a
cuumionar note.. This was observed by him of the vel
vet Colt; and he itnnaediately drew his handkerchief
ftntsi his coat pocket, and dropping it over the note,
cr w ited np all togetherand made his hat the receptacle.
°pompon. however, was not unobserved by another
person present. Tho loss of the note was soon discov
ered, and the velvet coat roan was charged with picking
it up. This he of course denied. "It is in your hat,"
sa4 the observer of the transaction. The hat was ta
kau.off, the "wipe" taken out and well shaken; no note
came . forth. "Look a little closer," said the same indi
vidataL Still it was not to be found. "Let som e one
elseexamine," continued the friend of the loser. The
t o/velvet coat now found that matters were coming to a
crisis, and bran extra exertion of eye-sight, he discov.
ma something in the hat. "Isere is a piece of paper,"
sap' hi, "but Ido not know what it is." It proved to
bethe one dollar note. The " cute ' WI " was rather m
ica in, and be made his exit in double quick time.

vial I purchased a few days ago. My child had been
ill for some time, and I was advised by my neighbors
to try Dr. McLane's Worm Specific; I bought a vial,
and gave only a half teaspoonful. The child passed
28 worms; I repeated the medicine until 63 worms came

NOVEL SPECTACLE.
The proprietor s of the New York and Philadelphia
Zoological Exhibition have, at great cost and trouble,
trained two prodigious Elephants, in harness, driving
them in, tandem style, on the entrance of the Menagerie
into the city, leading the Grand Cavalcade of horses,
wagons, &c., after the same style as exhibited in the
New York, Philadelphia and other principal cities to
the great surprise and admiration of thousands.
New and splendid Scenery, done in oil painting by
one of the best artists in Philadelphia, decorates the
sides of 20 wagons, all containing animals of different
descriptions, affording one of the most rich and ani
mating displays ever brought forth, all the designs be
ing of the latest finish and most admirable fashion. To
enliven this scene, ton entering the towni a high toned
band will pour forth some of the most fashionable airs.
The celebrated JOHN SCIIAFFER, the subduer of
the savage denizens of the forest, will appear in a most
magnificent series of scenes entitled "The dreadful
doorn of the Sultan's slave." Among a variety of thril
ling situations, the following will be exhibited:—Th e
outcast slave banished to the forest of Faihri, expiring
from hunger and fatigue; when a fierce Brazilian Tiger
darts like lightnin g upon him from an upper cavern.
The Eastern despot;s most awful sentence ! ! For
feited life spared on condition of training a wild lion to
harness, which is accomplished, and the slave rides
across the road in an ancient car.
Also, a variety of other beautiful and striking situa
tions will be presented during the proges s of the piece,
to conclude with the most bold, grand and daring hn
man display presented among a whole carava n of wild
animals let loose at the same time, upon the Indian
Slave, who will gradually subdue, and playfullyexhibit
his remarkable skill in elegantly grouping the match
less zoological exhibition.
