T O 7'HE PUBLIC, and parties/arty to my former
patrons of this city:—llnytag retired from the
practice of Medicine. I may be permitted to say, that It
has fallen to the lot of but fel§ persons to have enjoyed
no liberal or large a share of obstretrical practice as my
own has been for the last SO or 40 years.
The eApertente of that idirg period of active life, and the
fart of my having been twice, since IBoo.assiYciated with
Dr. R. A. Wilson, In the practice of medicine, (in both a
period of live years.) enables me to judge fully of the
merits of his pills.
So convenient, so efficient, and yet Su safe, did I esteem
these pills, that for the last five years In my practice for
the cure of chronic diseases, of whatever nam.o, and those
of females In particular, I have used more 01 them than
all other medicines.
Like every other medicine, this must fall In some In

quite astonishing me.
If my patient required a safe aperient medicine either

the thing I wanted.
If a dyspeptic acid condition of the stomach, combined
with costiveness or inactivity °rifle liver, constituted the
disease if my patient. the pulls were just the thing I
wanted.
If I treated a case requiring an einmenagogue, the
Wilson's pills were Just the thing i wanted.
If palpitation, headache, flushed countenance, or other
difficulties. indicating a disturbance of the circulatory
and secretory systems, annoyed my patient at the 'turn
of life,' the Wilson's pills wertjust the thing I wanted.
Thus, without resp.let to the name, a disease might
happen to wear at the time I have had It under treat.
ment, particular indicatkins or symptons arising, were

That so great a number ordiseases, and sometimes ap.

DAILY MORNING POST.
British Philanthropy.
The old maxim that "charity begins at
home," has been much and greatly Stigma-•
tised; and yet it is most aasuredfy true.
We do not mean to say that charity 'should
end, but that it ahoufd begin there. Illoth
ing is more certain than that the find 'duty
of a parent is to take care of those Who are
dependent on him for - support; that those
with whom we are in the, daily habit of ex•
changing the offices of aocial neighborhood
and mutual good will, should take ;prece
dence in our kind offices; and that every
Government is bound, by the most solemn
obtigaiions-, never to sacrifice the interests
and happiness of its own citizens or sub
jects, to Omni 6f any other nation whatever'
Governments are not instituted 'or etbersi
but ourselves, for the safety and happitlead
of those who bear the burden of their sup
port, and defe'nd them in time el dintet:.
The maxim that "charity begins at hoine'i
thereto? e, that of all henificent iGov'etni

But there are Many 'phihina

Who neglect their families, their domestic
duties, and the still higher ob "• -

on them than that df the possession 'of a
common nature, and who live, perhaps, on

We allude to England. Taking kir our
