If my patient required a safe aperient medicine either
.efore or after parturition, the Wilson's pile were just
the thing wanted.
If a dyspeptic acid condition of the stomach, combined
with costivenrss or inactivity ofihe liver, coast huted the
disease of my patient, the pills were Jut the thing I
wanted.
If t treated a case requiring an emmentlogue, the
Wilson's pills were just the thing I want ra.
If palpitation, headache, Hashed countenance, or other
difficulties, indicating a disturbance of the circulatory
and secretory systems, annoyed my patient at the quilt
of life,' the Wilson's pills werejust the thing I wanted.
Thus, without respaet to the name. a disease might
happen to wear at the time I have had It under treat
ment, particular indications or symptons arising, were
always moat promptly and most happily met by the
Wilson's pills.
That so great a number ofdlseases, and sometimes ap.
parent!y opposite ones, in which I have used these pills,
should be cured more readily by them than by any oilier
remedy, may at first seern strange and contradictory, but
why it is so is aselear to my mind as that a great many
persons shoulabecome thirsty from us many different
canseadind yet all require that common and greatest of
alt blends's, water to quench their thirst.
in it is des the , epatation of the medicine
and the public, to say decidedly and unconditionally, that
the Wilson's pills arethe only combination I hare ever
met with in my itmgcourso of practice.that really Poi

TO THE PUBLIC, and partite/eery to my fosses r
patrons of this city:—Having retired from the
practice of Medicine. I may be permitted to say, that It
has fallen to the lot of but few persons to have enjoyed
so liberal or large a share of obstretrical practice as my
own has been for the last 30 or 40 years.
The experience of that long period of active life, and the
fact of my hiving been twice, since 11130.asseehtted with
Dr. R. A. Wilson, in the practice of medicine, (in both.
period of dye years.) enables me to judge fully of the
merits of his pills.
Elo convenient, so eMeient. and yet so safe, dkl . l esteem
them pills, that for the last fi ve yews In illy prattlers for
the cure of chroak diseases, of whatever items, and those
of females in particular, I have used more et them than
all other medicines.
Like every other medicine. this most fall In some in
stance', hut In my hands there has been ten disappoint.
ment and more satisfaction In the administration of Ibis
one remedy than of ail others; its good effects sometimes
quite astonishing me.

which were written more than a hundred

The manuscripts consist of a Hi tory of

'This rain was enlivened with very loud
thunder, which was echnikl back by the

manner. There is something in the woods
th a t makes the sound of this meteor more
awful, and the vi dente of the lightning
more visible. The trees are ftequently
shivered 'quite down to the root, and some.
time perfectly twisted. - But of all the of
feats of lightning that ever I beard of, the
most amazing happened in this country
in the yeat 1736. In the summer of that
year a surgeon of a ship, whose name was
D: via, came on shore at York to visit a
patient, He was no sooner got into the
house, but it began to rain with many ter.,
rible claps of thunder. When it was al.
most dark there carne a dreadful flash of
lightning, which struck the surgeon dead
as he Was walking about the room, but
hurt no other person,
though several were
neat him. At the same time it made a
large hole in the trunk of a pine tree, which
grew about ten feet from the window.
But what was most surprising in this die.
aster was, that on the breast of the unfor
tunate man that was killed was the figure
of a pine tree, as exactly delineated as any
limner in the-world could draw it; nay the
resemblewent so far as to represent
the color - he pine, as well as the figure. ?
The light - rkg most probably must have
r
passed through the tree first before it
struck the man, and by that means have
printed the icon of it on his breast. But
whatever may have been the cause, the ef
fect was certain, and can be attested by a
cloud of witnesses who had the curiosity
to go and see this wonderful phenom—
