'The news from the •city of Mexico is
must interesting. .Gen. Guttureit, of St.
Louis, has declared for a .disolution•of Con
gress, and the naming of a new body. by
Santa Anna to lorm a new constituting; for
the country. A similar move is made in
Puebla by Gen, CanaLzo. This news was
sent by express to Mexico to Gen. Tom',
minister of war, who immediately made it
known to Congress. This body replied
that they were the real representatives
the country, and would not be drives from
their seats, except by force of arms. This
is purely a military movement, probably
secretly moved by Santa Anna.
News has arrived here, from the mast, of

About 600 Indians, representatives or
all the Indian tribes in Texas, were on their •
way to the seat or government, to make •
peace with the whites.
After numerous attempts to break
the quorum is Congress, the malcontents
have retired from Washington to Ausiin,,
and a quorum beingformed without them
the business of the nation is proceeding reg
ularly. On the 9th inst., Mr. Scurry in
tropuced a bill to repeal the Tarifrand de.
dare the ports of Texas free; which has
been read twice. It will not, however,
pass, and it is presumed that the duties
will remain as at present, with the excep
don of a reduction on iron and alt.

was to be considered, until the 20th, The,
Tariff, seat of Government and cengy‘
questions will then come up.
The army, numbering 800 men, under
the command of Gen. Somerville, left the
Rio trio no the 29th ult., for Laredo, oo
the gio Grande. The troops are said to
be.fintily mounted, well provided and is
excellent spirits. Gen. Somerville, io his
report to the War Department, says than
he expected to make forced mart Les, and
to reach Laredo in five days. Our next,
news says the Civilian, will probably be of
'battles fought and won.'
