DR. FRANKLIN SAYS
"All acute fevers ever require some evacuation to bring l i
them to a perfect crisis and solution, and that even by
stools, which must be promoted by art when nature
does not do the business Itself. On this account, an
ill timed scrupulousnessabout the weakness of the body
is of bad consequences.; for it is that which seems chiefly
to make evacuations necessary, which nature attempts
after tne humors are !Utz be expelled , but is not able to
accomplish for the most part in these diseases; and I can
affirm, that 1 have given a purge when the pulse has been
so low that it could hardly he felt, and the debility ex.
ireme, yet both one and the ether have been restored by
it." The good effect to be derived from the Brandreth
Pills have to be experienced to be folly believed. By
their timely use neither the scarlet, the typhus fever or
small pox would ever assume their malignant Cot m.
To appreciate to ;he full extent ,the incalculable hene•
fits of BRAN DRETIFS PILLS, they must be used when
the First Symptoms of Disease present themselves. One
dose then, and tlteir good effects will be felt throughout
the attack—lT is TAKING THEN. IN TIMM that is the great
secret in the cure of WI appearancei of disease arising
from bsd blood, and I presume there are few at the pres.

Sir_Since I have been in this city I have used some of
your Dyspeptic medicine with infinite benefit and sails

Mr. Joan Detortwo:—Dear Sir —Flaviug been present,
yesterday, dt the experiment which you were , pleased to
make, in the presence of a number of our business men,
of the safety of y our I RON CHESTS, in case of fire, it
gives me pleasure to say, that so far as I was capable of
judging, theclest was fair, and the result exceeded my
expectationi.
The elietit was a small one, about 30 inches WO, by
about 13 or 20 inches in breadth and depth, and was pla
ced ono Idcick of wood about a foot in thickness, so as
to elevYe it;about that height flOlll the ground; several
books and newspapers were deposited inside of it, in the
wanner in %Vinci) Metchanis and others would usually
place them-i-a large quantity of light pine wood [slabs
from un adjOining Saw Mill,] was then placed around
and above it, and the fire kindled on the windward side,
so as to drive the flame against the hack part: of the chest.
The fire was kept up about three quarters of an hour,
until you hail gone among the spectators and received
from mein ;their universal answer that the test was
sufficient. The chest was then drawn out of the fire,
and cooler', and opened, and examined. The contents
were all safe, and the only injury done was to the hack':
of one hook' which appeared to be a little cuarred. From
what I witnessed, I think that these chests are desery
ing of confidence, as affording, perhaps. the best security
to Merchants for their hooks and papers, which they can
have withwit building large, thick, and expensive vaults.
I would consider them a better security than many vaults
which I have seen bud( . Your friend U ,

We cone& in the above statement, having been pres
sent when the chest was tested.
