IN Among a certain class ol self-important peo ple there is a peculiar feeling of ooulempt attach ed to all physicians that advertise and treat the diseases named in this card, ( Part' ATE DlseAase, ) why this should be, they nor no one else can tell. Are they not aware that all physicians treat dis, eases of •every denomination, in fact solicit just the very diseases that are so obnoxious to these very refined parties. I suppose they would not let one of their family go to a party that has de voted years for their benefit, because lie advail sea the fact, and their family physician rays he is a humbug so he can get the cane. Often he has almost deprived the party of his life. Ho comes nt last to the physician that advertises—how else are they to.know 1 Are they not aware that Sir Astley Cooper, Sir Benjamin Brodie, Sir Charles Ball and M. i'aul Eloord devoted years In tl,e treatment of these diseases 1 These" men are held up as shining lights in the medical world ; I don't assert that all men are worthy that publiatu still there are a grwit number of them that are. I have devoted myself to the study and treatment of PRIVATA DISMASttI upwards of 40 years, and without egotism can any I have saved hundreds from years of misery and untimely death. My treatment is confined to the vegetable altogeiher, as I think it is the best and most certain. it is in my power to bring hundreds of certificates if I thought it necessary to certify to my general suc cess : bit my long residence in this city is Buth. cient proof without adding more. Sperruatorrhee and all diseases arising from it are cured In a much shorter time than heretofore. It behooves every young man and woman to be careful in se lecting a physician. The difte.rent advertisements that are seen in our papers are of no worth, and no benefit will arise from answers than only loss of health and money. Hundreds are cured annu ally by icy new remedies. Graht had received reinforcements to the num ber of 48,000 men; and that the neces sity of replenishing our armies was crea ted by the "immense losses" he had al ready sustained and expected still to sus tain before ho could enter Richmond. As we found 'these statements in the official report of the Congressional de bates we could not suspect them of be ing contraband, and yet we learn from one of our city contemporaries, which sustains an official relation to the Presi dent of the United States, that the agent of the Associated Press in this city was - forbidden by the military censor resi ding here to make these' statements a part ()flits daily condensed report of the doings of Congress, on the ground, we suppose, that they furnlithed valuable information to the enemy. The motive 'of this suppression, if it be true that aliy such censorship was exercised over the report of Mr. Wilson's speech, may per haps he found in the follo.wipg ontgiv legs 01 that gentleman, when, in the course of the same debate in which he Wade these stateinents, the following :colloquy ensued: Mr. -Wilson—l rim not the Adminis tration's slave. -I generally support their policy. On some things I. have to condemn them, as does the Senator and all of us. Mr. Conners—l fully understand that, and will simply say that the only differ enethat I can see between the honor able Senator and myself on these subjects is that sometimes I breathe a little louder than he does. [Langhter.]. Mr. Johnson—Will the honorable chairman of the committee inform us, if he can inform us, how many men it is proposed to call .for by the Govern ment? Mr. Wilson--I de not know. I!I Alr:Johnston—That may in some mea- sure influence my vote. Mr. Wilson—l can ascertain by to. Morrow morning. ' .Mr. Johnston—Do youknow kan many 97201 are now in the army? I Wilson—l do not, and if I did I shoiild not feel at liberty to say, because it Ihas been the polity of the Secretary of War to keep it away from our own people; for, as he says, if hg should let everbody know it, the enemy would soon know it; that he would give a great deal if he only knew how many men they had, and' he supposed they would ifhe knew what we had. Mr. Johnson—lf he makes a call for a specific number of men they will find tluit out very soon. Mr. Wilson—Th4y will find that out; but they do not know the number of melt in our service. We have got a large fotce in the field, but still we want more. If tbe Secretary of War desires to keep the number of our troopS a secret from the country, in order that he may equally Iftlep it a secret from the enemy, we can readily understand why be might ob ject to the publicity given by Mi. Wil son to the number of men recruited in our army during the last year, exclusive of black men. For the number of black 'men employed in our service as soldiers or laborers was stated by the President in his letter to Col. Hedges, insomuch that it is comparatively easy, with those data, to arrive approximately,. by a short math ematim.l operation, !tit the number of our forces when the present campaign be. gan. Including new recruits, colored troops; "one hundred days' men," and veterafis enlisted in the summer and au tumn of 1861 whose three years' term has not yO expired, the total aggregate of our armies , itt as we have previously stated, must e considerably more than a mil *lion ofimen at the present time. . If this enemy- can get any encourage ment froth these figures, 'it may result, not Imm Mr. WilsOn's statement of the, facts' ifil the case,' 'hut from the Wade quateleuccesses that shall be achieved by such' in unexampled exertion of the -na tion'todlitary powers. And who, at the t eshold of the summer's campaign, is re ' to augur Such a poverty of re k sultslaanhall render Mr. Wilson's state ments A source of depre.saion to the Loyal States land of assurance ,to the enemy? We he been constantly told that. this cant grt • was to ' result in effectually. breaki gthe military power f Of the incur, rectio , and everybody must adthit that .
