a great deal of medicine for them. I used to buy

1 could not get cured, sometimes they would do
me some good inr a little while, hot afterwards
they would return again as had as ever. 1 also
applied to two Doctors who visited me at my
house and gave me some medicine hut it would

ed me for twenty yeara. In other respects my
health Is Improved, and I am aa well aa could be
expected for one of my age, being sixty years
past. I have been well now for six months, and
there 1b noappcarance oi a return of the disease;
1 can do any kind of farming work now without
the Pilea coming down and hurting me. lean

There has been a very serious accident
near Newborn, in Norm Caolina. The
.Federal authorities are planting torpe
does in the Neuse River, to prevent the
approach of Confederate vessels. Four
ot these, the last-of thirteen intended
lor the river, were conveyed in a rail
road ear from Newbem to one of the
outposts. As the torpedoes were being
taken olfut the station, which was crowd
ed with soldiers, they exploded. Forty
soldiers were killed, .and from twenty
to thirty wounded. A large commissary
buildings with a tower, standing near
by, was blown eight hundred feet into
the air. The torpedoes were of the
largest size.
