would loose its force if it became early

to me to be unnecessary and likelt to be

and even of stern principal may determ

should hope that our congregations may
not be dividiedity having such question ,

their duty, desire now to leave it with
Him who seems to have taken the cause
of the Negro into his own H u nik, and
who will find the agent proper for his
work.
If my opinion can have• any weight
with your Vestry, 1 wish you would ex
press to them my sincere hope and de
sire that they will reconsider their action
on the subject and set the magnanimous
example of a sacrifice for the sake of
peace. At the same time I must request
that in doing so, you will read them the
whole of this Letter, that they may per
