tion from this city was in attendance.

affair to day, but for the attempt of the
Chronicle to prejudice the case by a cne

icle's own showing, was the "insolent
flaunting of a Woodward flag from Guffy's
house, coupled with the bullying con

the Commonwealth vs ',Ruth is still on
trial. The defence is justifiable homicide.
Mr. Swartzwelder opened the case on be
halt of the prisoner, and b ;wed that the
defent would be that Kunsler had
threaten e d the day of the homicide to
tithe I.auth's life, and that the killing was
done in Bell defence. It would he shown
that the deceased was a to tst desperate
character, and that from the threats he
had made ligninnt tie prisoner, the latter
could only believe that he intended taking
his life, and had shot him therefore to
sate hie own lite.
