At midnight they were attacked by Hord s division of LongstreeCs corps, who descended from the mountain. The battle raged for two hours, when the rebels were repulsed with great ,daughter. The enemy, by their superior numbers, were enabled to attack in front and on both - sides—their cross fire was terrible and proved very destructive to both men and horses.
