The olopticomorama of the War comes

is painted by eminent artiste from sketches

Harpe 's Ferry and some others, spoken
of

The committee on the conduct of the
war to-day unanimously adopted their re
port on the army of the Potomac con
taining their general conclusions. On
application they have supplied proof
copies for the press, but were not able to
furnish them in sufficient number to
reach all - points of the country. The un
derstanding is that it shall be published
on alonday without favoritism to any par
ticular newspaper. The other reports to
follow this will be in relation to Bull Run,
Ball's Bluff ti,,d the Western departments.
This committee was appointed in De
cember, 1861. They have examined
a large number of witnesses and obtained
much valuable information, throwing light
on the conduct of the war, and which will
prove valuable for future evidence.

ACTS FORTIOE
It is said this committee, one of the most
harmonious ever appointed, and though
composed of men differing in party poli
tics, almost every conclusion reacher as
to the policy and prosecution of the war
was unanimous, and it is further asserted
that careful examinations of the proceed
ings will show that everything has been
done fairly and without any object or pur
pose to detract from or add to the merits
of any officer connected with the army.
The general conclusion of the commit.
tee are understood to be of a character
highly encouraging as respects the future.

SWORD PRESENTATION
NEW YORK, April 2.—A letter from New
Orleans says, St. Mary's Hall, the tine
hotel, and all the dwellings in Pensacola
except Mallory & Chase's, were burned
down by the U. S. troops. The Nith
Maine and 28th Connecticut regiments
were left there on the departure of the
28th Maine regiment. The soldiers seem
ed to think that the entire evacuation of
the place to the enemy was intended, and
many swore they would burn the place.—
On Thursday at noon, the fire commenced
and for three days and nights the town
was filled with smoke and flame: The of
ficers tried to stop the work of destruc
tion, but seemed to have no influence over
the men, even the troops placed to guard
the property set it on tire. Col. ' Dyer,
the commander of the post, was almost
distracted, and gave orders to shoot
down all persons caught in the act of in
cendiarism, but there was no one to exe
