This command with the flying artillery, and abont 1,500 infantry, were placed under command of Gen. Stoneman, to attend to the removal of government property at the White House. Their infantrv, 1,600, retreated to Williamsburg, arriving at that place early on Snnday morning, from whence they went to Yorktown, where they shipped their artillery. Their men are all in good health and spirits, and have only lost two of their number, who were taken while on picket duty. They represent the expedition as admirably planned and managed by G*i. July 5 —The (teamen Louisiana and Vanderbilt arrived at this port yesterday, bringing thirteen hundred sick and wounded soldiers from James river. Ambulances were employed till a late hour last night conveying them to the va rious hospitals in W ashington and vicinity* Many were able to walk to and from the ambulances. Our citizens readily assisted in the work of removal. These patients are the recipients of good care and kind attentions, and the ladies have entered in to humane service with zeal.
