On last Friday morning as the Eastern
hound train was passing over a bridge be
tween Bellair mid Barnaville. a !wakes
man named Clark Green stood on the steps
of the platform of one of the cars waving
hiti handkerchief to some ladies, when his
head and foot came in contact with one of
the columns of the bridge. Ills head was
partially cut of, as also one aids feet and
his body . precipitated into the creek. Ills
,remains were taken to Bellair.
- At as early hour yesterday morning 41
stable in the rear of M. llahe's grocery
store, Penn street. near O'Hara, was dis
covered to be on tire, and communicating
with the store, a three story brick build
ing, it was badly damaged, and also the
stock, by fire and water. The house was
owned by Mr: Rate. and is partially in
sured. It is believed that the stable was
met on fire.

cation, during which one drew a pistol,
afterwards found to be lauded with ball, and
attempted to shoot the other, who seized

dispatch mentioned, left - yesterday for Bal
timore, to take charge of the remains and

announces that the coupons due July Ist,
clothe first and second mortgage bonds of
'the company, will be paid on presentation
at their office, less the interest for the time

the Company to be in a flourishing condi
tion and gives promise of a most prosper
ous future.

The latest accounts from Richmond,
confirmed by a telegraphic dispatch from
Ron. J. K. -Moorhead, state that Col. T.
A. Rowley, of the lo2d, was Slightly
wounded in the neck during Saturday's
battle, but was at the head of his regiment
in the light of Sunday, behaving with the
gieatest coolness and courage.

At the primary election of the Fayette
county Democracy, last Saturday, Daniel
Kahle, Esq., who represented that county
in the last Legislature, was nominated for
re-election.

Planters' Honse; near White House, Va.,
of typhoid fever The information was
conveyed to his friends in Beaver, by a
telegraphic dispatch from Sharp Hemphill,
Esq., who was with the Colonel when he
died. His body was interred on the fol
lowing day.
Col. Wilson was a well known and most
estimable member of the bar of Beaver
County and most ably represented his coun
ty in three sessions of the Legislature. He
was for several years, though not at the
breaking out of the rebellion, a Brigadier
General of militia, and with the military
experience thus obtained he felt it to he
his duty to offer his services to the general
government, and accordingly raised a reg
iment, 'in which are a number of compan
ies from this vicinity. He soon gained the
respect and esteem of his entire command
anti was with them in the battle of Will
liamsburg, but soon after he was prostra
ted by the disease which finally caused his
death—brought on, as in the case of Gen.
Kelm, to whose brigade the Mat regi
ment was attached, by neisance from the
swamps in which their division was en
camped before Yorktown.
Faithful, honest, brave and kind-hearted,
fl•tv have littler since the commencement
of this war who will be-more regretted than

roads. &e., have instructed their chairman
( Mr. Mallory, of Kentucky), to report a
bill to further the construction of the Pitts
burg and Connellsville Railroad to the
Baltimore atki I)hio road at Cumberland.
This is in accordance with the memorial
o f the members of the. Legislature of
Ohio. which sets forth the need of closer,
speedier and more direct communication
bewcel! the Northwest and Washington.
By this rode, itl rapticetion with the Bal
timore and Ohio, ueveuly wiles would be
saved in transit from the great North West
to the seat of Government. It is repre
sented in the memorial that the amount
that would he saved in freights and fares
this line would soon more than repay
any tatepOritry outlay of the government
expenses of transportation on military
account. Accordingly, the eoustnittee re
port in favor of endorsing bonds of the
Connellsville . road to the amount of two
millions, under proper securities, provided
that troops. munitions of war and stores
shall he carried over the road at half the
umal rates. It is understood that the
Baltimore and ()hi° Railroad Company are

Jackson Morrow, of Butler county, who
escaped from prison after being sentenced
to the Western Penitentiary for three
years and one week. was recently arrested
by Sheriff Scott, on Oil creek, near Frank
lin. and has since been safely lodged in
Allegheny with the Penitentiary Warden.
