425,608. On Saturday evening, the banks
did not hold mucu over $23,000,000 in
Epecie. Many of the banks paid cut
specie, as usual, to day, wfllle the others
are paying out small sums to customers;
there is but little demand, however, for it.
Arrangements have been made for an ad
vance of specie by the banks to pay a por
tion of the State debt and interest thereon
due on January Ist,
