was delivered to Congree at noon on Tues
day and, by the enterprise of Mr, Barr, of
the Pittsburgh Post, to whose courtesy we
are indebted fcr a copy in advance of the
mail, it was telegraphed to the Post on
Tuesday evening.— Western(Beaver) Star.

document, so far as length is considered,
and is just such a paper as might have
been expected from Mr. Lincoln by those

The Presidents Message.
Below we publish a number of notices
from our exchanges; acknowledging the
receipt of early copies of the President's
Message, which we sent out by express.—
We tender our thanks to each and all for
the complimentary notices. We should
have sent the message to many other pa
pers, but for the uncertainty of its reach
ing them in time, beyond the regions to
which Adam;,' Express travels:
We acknowledge our obligation to 001.
Barr, of the Pittsburgh Morning Pool,
for hat was intended to be an early copy
of the President's Message, Had the Ex•
press company brought it with despatch,
it would have anticipated the arrival of
the Message from any other source—as it
was, it came to hand Friday afternoon.
The Poat with its usual enterprise had the
Message telegraphed specially, at a heavy
expense, and completely headed oft its
neighbors, who were content to secure
early copies by purloining that paper be
fore its regular issue. It is now having
its revenge by calling public attention to
the fact that at least three of its contem
poraries were able to publish the Message
twelve hours after it did by means of sto
len copies of the Foal. -Mansfield Herald.
We have held back our paper, in expee,
tation of the President's Message, all along
from Tuesday morning until Wednesday
evening, when we received a copy through
the politeness of James P. Barr, Esq., of
the Pittsburgh Poet, which alone of the

grioh, to the great chagrin and incligna•
tion of its city cotemporaries, who com
plain of unfair usage on the part of the

Morgan, in command of the troops at
Weston, has issued a proclamation to the
citizens of Platte county, in which he calls
upon them to aid him in protecting the
railroad; calls upon absentees to return,
assuring them protection of persons and
property if loyal; no niggard will be al
lowed within camp, or to leave without a
pass, and all marauding parties of armed
men to be shot. Colonel Morgan's forces
are said to be composed of Missourians,
enlisted under Governor Gamble's call.—

regiment, the Bth Kansas, Colonel Wessel,
a portion of the 70th Missouri, and other
troops, have been ordered to West Point,
Bates county, Missouri.
