Columbus, Hy,, November 12.—A Dalghren gnu exploded here .yesterday, killing'two lieutenants and six privates. Gen. Polk narrowly escaped, apportion of his clothes being torn off. The Savannah Republican says that the Fort Walker armament conßiSied of six teen guns, nine of which bore upon the shipping, the balance being in position on the land side. Five or six of these guns, among them the twenty four pounder rifle cannon and one ten inch colnmbiad, were disabled during the forenoon. Thus dis abled, and their ammunition enhauted, the garrison evacuated Fort Walker between three aod four o’clock, retiring in the direc tion of Blufton, leaving the guns in posi tion and unspiked, having no spikes for that purposg. .
