WHEREAS, an information has been
filed in the District Court of the United
States of America for the Western District of Penns
sylvania, on the AM day of September, in the year
of our Lot d ono thousand eight hundred and sixty
one, by Robert B. Carnahan, Reg Attorney of the
United. States, on behalf of the United States, allegs
ing in substance that a certain lot of pig insist,
amounting to seven hundred and eighty one (781)
tone, more or less, is now on the whilst at the port
of Pittsburgh, in the said District; that the same
is owned, in whole or in part, by Pointer Brothers,
citizens and residents of the State of Tennessee,
and now in the possession and charge of John
Moorhead, of Pittsburgh. in said District; that in
pursuance of the Act of Congress approved July is,
1861, the President of the United States issued his
proclamation, dotted August 16,1861, declaring inter
alia thst the inhabitants of the State of Tennessee
are in a state of Men:re:lion against the United
States, and that alt commercial intercourse between
the same and the inhabitanto thereof and the citi
zens of other States and other parts of the United
States is unlawful, and that all goods and chattels;
wares and merchandise coming from said State of
Tennessee into other parts of the United States, by
land or water,w(ll be forfeited to the United States;
and that said lot of pig metai_, owned as aforesaid,
was conveyed from the said State of Tennessee to
said city of Pittsburgh, and that the same thereby
became forfeited to the use of the said United
States, and praying that the same be condemned as
forfeited as aforesaid.

therein, or lien thereon, or in any manner interest

each. Let every mother, wife and sister knit one
or more pairs.
Let associations be formed in each county, with
a treasurer at the county seat, with whom the
stockings can be deposited and forwarded to the
