( A Yourro ROUGE.—Yesterday morning, a lad of some twelve or thirteen summers, nettled John Johns, was arrested at the jewelry store of R. T. McGoagh, on Li berty street, whew he was endeavoring to hatter some jewelry. It was also aster. twined that he had sold to D. Dunseath, Jeweler, on Diamond alley, a quantity of tritilteta, such as chains, breast-pins, &c for which he got a watch. The boy had been at the store of &lineman, Meyran Co., Fifth street, in the morning, and being seen at other stores suspicion was aroused, and on examination it was ascertained that he had stolen from them a quantity of jewelry, some $26 or $3O worth, which he was trading off -for articles that suited his fancy better. He was searched at the Jittayor's office, and nearly all the stolen .jewelry found upon him, including a ring identified by Mr. Dunseath. After giving nrthe trinkets to the officers be succeeded in fobbing one of the rings a second time, which was afterwards found upon his per. ann. EDlTOB:—During the last two days we have been visited with plentiful shower s o f rain, which, while it has had the cifect to lay ihe dust, made standing guard, &a., rather unpleasant. Yesterday we had Capt. Means, of Brookville, one of the best men in camp, as officer of the day, with Lieut 6eolt, of Capt. Hull's company A, as tamer of the guard. Matters continue to go on smoothly, and every one appears to be satisfied. Tho field where our tents are pitched, ties, at the instance of Col. Black, who is on hand from daylight in the morning until late at night, personally superintending, the oper ations of the camp, been raked and Lao. roughly claimed off, treeing it from all dust, straw, mud, &e , while the wood is cut, and neatly piled up alongside the trenches for cooking. Everything pre sents a neat, clean and orderly appearance, which conduces greatly, not only to the health, but the general satisfaction and enjoyment of all concerned. We are visited every day by large Lum bers of prominent citizens of Harrisburg, who epe‘k in the highest terms of corn. mendation of the good order and manage meat of our camp, as compared with that of others in this vicinity. The bald officers and the Quarter mas• ter, having come to the conclusion that a saving to the men could be made by hays tag bread baked on the gr.( and instead of buying it from the bakers, a tine large oven is now being built, under the super intendency of Lieut. McDonald, of Capt. Hull's company. It is estimated by this new arrangement that each man will eat four or five ounces mc.re bread per day than formerly, which will be quite an item The health of both officers and men con tinues good, the few cases of slight de rangement of the system, incident to c`aange of water, Sac , are nearly or quite well, and all are rapidly becoming inured to the little hardships and inconveniences pertair, ing to camp life. I heard Col. Black remark, that all edi tors and persons having control of news papers and other reading matter, would confer a great favor on the regiment, by addressing to him packages of the same to Camp Cameron. All matters of the kind thus addressed, will be promptly distrihu• tad among the men Adjutant Brown, , who It was predicted by some few wise people, would not get along as well as he should, is rendering entire satisfaction, and bids fair to make a llrstrate officer. He is indu.tr.ous, in. Lelligent and clever, throe very essential quslitleations for one in his position. It is said the Colonel will leave for Philadelphia this evening, for the purpose of perfecting arrangements in reference to clothing the regiment with the regular U. S. uniform. Major Switzer has not yet arrived, but is expected to-morrow. "Patterson's Lambs" are all, without a single exception, in good health, and al ways ready for their rations. They desire me to present their compliments to tha good people of Birmingham and vicinity, and to assure theth that their numerous re. cent, acts of kindness will ever ho hold in grateful remembrance. Bran SzLLERS U.A.t*Gll T UP.—For 800:143 ~ime a number of our lager beer vendors have Leon disregarding the law prohibiting the sale of Antozleatirig fluids on Sunday, and some have gone so far as to keep open doors on the Sabbath, plying their trade most profitably; to the annoyance of peaces ful citizens living in the vicinity. The evil was becoming a serious one, and the Mayor came to the determination to stop it by bringing the violators of the law to punishment. Accordingly, on Sunday, some of these houses were watched, and on Monday informations were swot n out against the following parties :—Niebolas Young, F. G. Schenck, Michael Faso, Diamond alley ; Valentine Benz, Daniel Harwig, Penn street ; A. Nardi, H. Bark, Market street. These were summoned to appear before the Mayor, which they did, and the etidence being clear against them, they were given the choice of paying the civil penalty of $5O each or giving bail to answer at Court. As, in case of trial, the prospect of getting a short term in prison was good, the majority preferred the former alternative, and. either paid or agreed to pay the fine. Messrs. Nardi and Burk, however, who contend that they only sold edibles, gave bail for their appearance- at Court, determined to stand the hazard of the die. They may, however, reconsider and pay the fine. The Mayor is deter• mined to stop this traffic on the Sabbath day, if possible, and offenders should be on their guard or they, will probably suffer in like manner. They will findihat a fine of $5O will take away the profits of many Sundays. Ili: A. —/.88 .DDIE PROCTOR AND MR. S. W. A number of the most distinguished army r Ri cers of Europe, sod particularle in England and France, have tendered their services to the United eitates, bat it is not karat a that any -of them will be accepted. One of them in his letter says that he regards the contest an between civilization and barbarism, and his love for the former controls his action. There is good authority for saying that there is no troth in a recently reported conversation be tween Lord Lyons and &oretary Seward, in the matter of sending a special messenger to England with an account of the Bull Run battle. As to the specific charges udder which he is held, they are so far as the public is concerned, more matters of speculation, but something has been said about hie having a commission as a Brigadier General in the rebel army. A formal examination into the case will, however, soon take place. Shortly areal. his arrest, he remarked that he was not aware of having done anything to justi ty these proceedin,ga, and tut for them, he would had his accounts settled to-day at the State Depart: meat, which be had visited the day after hisarrival in Wiashington, on that business, as well as to call on Secretary Seward, in accordance with the emu , tesy governing ministers returning tram abroad.
