We hope Mr. Taggart may follow his ezam pie, and leave a clear field for the regular nom inee of the Democracy Prrrenuiton, December 27th, 1859. Dear Sir—Although I am not a citizen of the Third : ward, and consequently have not, strictly speaking, a right to interfere in any of the local questions relating to that district.; yet • L'n• a Democrat, and sincerely attached to the principles of that party, and desirous to promote its organization and the harmony which should mark our political conduct,—l cannot be a mute observer of the unfortunate position of affairs in your ward. Depend upon it that the success of our prin ciples rests upon the good feeling and harmony of the members of the party, and in undeviat ing adherence to our organization. Let me therefore beg of you, to bury all feelings of bitterness and resentment, and to proclaim yourself openly and sincerely, a friend to Mr Mcßride, and of your entire ticket. If you do so, you will act in an honorable manner, and will teceive the applause of all the good and true men belonging to the De mocracy of this City. Another important consideration is, that the division of our ranks in the gallant Third ward, may affect injuriously the election of the nominee, this day selected, for the May oralty. And further, let me assure you and all my friends that as a citizen sincerely attached to the organization of the Democratic party, and anxious for the Woe's of its principles. I am a full believer in the doctrine that we should gather around the standard of our party, at the risk of all persoral considerations. Thanking my numerous friends for their warm and generous support of myself in the rocent contest, for which they have my heart felt gratitude as long as 1 hie, 1 declare that if 1 . live till the day of the election.
