Unfortunate Banking A merchant in St. Anthony had lost from his money drawer lately a number of bank bills at various times, and could not account for their loss, and all attempts to trace them by marking, &c., were unavailing, arid he had almost given up the idea of detecting the thief, when on pulling the drawer entirely out, ho found under the counter a nest, compoi43.l entire ly-of bank bills, in which were four dead mice. In many places in the valley of Oil Creek, the ground is cov ered with pits, hundreds and thousands of them, evidently dug for the purpose of gather ing oil, and at a period so remote that trees, two hundred and fifty years old are growing over them.
