VARIETIES:
A Hoosier, an awful ugly man, relating his
travels in Missouri, said that ho had arrived
at Chiekonville in tho forenoon, and just a few
days before there had boon a bout bustel, and
a heap of people scalded and killed, one way
and other. So at last I went into a grocery a
squad of people followed in, and one bowed and
said.
"It's one of the unfortunate sufferers by the
bustin' one of the Frankling.
Upon that he sled me to drink with him
and nal put the tumbler to my mouth, he stop
ped me of a sudden.
"1 beg your pardon, stranger, but—,"
"But what P sez I.
"Just fix your month that way again," sez
I done it jest as I was gwino to drink; and
I'll be hanged if I didn't think they'od all go
into fits. They yelled and hooped like a gang
of wolves Finally one of the gang rez
"Don't make fun of the unfortunate; he's
hardly got over twin' blowed up yet. Let's
make up a puss for him."
They then all thowed in made up five dol
lars. As the spokesman handed me thechange,
hoaxed me:
"Whey did you find yourself after the 'splo
sion ?"
"In a flat boat," sez 1.
"How far from the Franklin ?" sez ho.
"Why," sez I, "I never seed her, but as
nigh as I can guess, - about three hundred and
seventy-live miles."
"You'd oughter seen that gang skedaddle

DR. CLArocr,"the Inventor of these celebrated
Pills, is justly distinguished for his eminent abilities and
scientific research. For 30 years in Lis extensive practice
lie experimented in bringing the great desideratum of a
remedial agent to act as a direct purifier upon the hu
man system. In this he has been eminently successful,
as the numerous certificates from celebrated physicians
show: They are extremely mild in their 'operation, at,
the same time powerful and effective in removing din•
care. They never givve pain. as de most purgatives, but
allay it in all cases. In acute rases they are more speedy
in their relief than any Pill now offered.
