The resignation of Wm. H. Clement asiten
.eral Superintendent of this road, has been as by the Company. The position of. Ge
neral Superintendent of the Eastern Division of
the Ohio & Mississippi Railroad has been ten
'dered to E. W. Woodward, at present Assist
ant Superintendent of the road, and by him
accepted. Mr. Woodward has achieved an
established reputation as an accomplished engi
neer and a competent railway manager. This
appointment is a substantial evidence of the
estimate placed on the services of this officer,
but by the end of his first term, Mr. Wood
ward will have won a still stronger hold on the
respect of the proprietors of the Ohio & Miss
iisippi road.
The Letter to Secretary Floyd.
The Mobilo Tribune thinks Richard Realf,
John Brown's "stray Secretary of State,"

Ferry project, which was sent to Secretary
Floyd.' It says Mr. Realf was in that vicinity
several weeks during the months of September
and October, employed in literary labors.—
some time between the first and tenth of Oc
tober ho left Mobile for New Orleans. He
arrived there, was seen to enter a hack or cab,
and has not been beard of since.

much from preference as from natural affinity, because
their life is below that of the surrounding parts, and
which, settling on tho tissues of tho throat, that is, around
the throat region, produces sore throat, sore throat plague,
and the severe headache and fever. Within an hour
after four or six pills are taken, there is felt a peculiar
creeping in the part attested, a sort of collecting up of
the diseased humors ready for expulsion. No hurt or
weakening effect can ever arise from their use, because !
they cannot act upon healthy parts. Taken early they
prevent all organic diseases Oh, how important in sick -
ne4s, to use that medicine which only extinguishes the
disease, and haves no evil effects behind.
