pass in this way, although the same thing has
been , attompted many times before, by writers
equally as accomplished as the editor of Thy

"It, was very unfair to assert that Adams and
Clay had made n bargain," says this positive,
if not over-enlightened writer, because it was
"entirely unsupported by any known facts in
the previous careers of either."
Now, it is not my purpose to wound the
feelings of the friends of either of there de

country important service:, for which they
are entitled to grateful remembrance. But
we must be equally just to the acts and purpo

men, living and dead, who, with the current
knowledge of thetime, concerning the ant.,,
dents of Adams, and Clay, and Jackson, and
with the history of the election of 18'24 fre:di.
ly before them, ...tY believe that the public will
had boma ignored and outraged, and Jackson
defrauded by the unexpected union of the sup•
porters of Adams and Clay, in the election of
Prerridept, by Congress, in 18:25. Some of the
"known , facts," Which,. supported the charge
of the ." bargain," I will briefly :stab.,
not asserting that there ices a bargain, but
showinitintt these who did allege the bar •

leis fabric or vision." -

Moen remarkable as a period of political quiet
- 7 -it *as termed the " era of good .feeling,"—
to show how thoroughly partisan quarrels had
subsided, from 1818 to 1824, an eminent demo
crat uttered the sentiment, We are all Feder:
alists—we are all Republicans," and this seeni
ed to be the feeling of the whole country. All
the five candidate-4 in 1824 were democrats,
agreeing in their generaVviews of public policy,
and the only difference amongst them was the
old quarrel of Adams and Clay. The astonish
ing settlennentOf tbat.fend,and its consequences,
were the constant theme of the canvass whiCh
resulted in the electictri•of Jackson in 1828.
We repeat that /ID insult is meditated to the
meraor3-her of these distinguished men.
They dios;Misated by their country, and they
must ever he looked on as true patriots.
But their contemporaries who condemned their
course in the election of 1825 are not, there
fore, to he set down as the mere malignant in
ventors of an atrocious libel, if they said and
believed that, upon the grounds we have re
cited a disgraceful bargain had been made.
Adams and Clay had been rivals and ene
mies. They suddenly became friends and co
sharers in power and place Let this be ac
counted for as it may, but let us shield the mo
tives of the peOple of this country, who; in
dignant at what they, deemed an outrage and a
wrong, after the bitterest contest ever known in
the country, triumphantly carried Gen. Jack
son into office in 1828, over the heads of the very
men who, as he and his friends believed, "bar
gained " to defeat him in 1825. No man everre
ceived, iind probably no man ever will receive as
large a Majority in Pennsylvania asJackson did
then. It amounted, if we mistake not, to more
than 52.0e0 votes. The people were deeply
stirred and terribly indignant at what to them
was entireiy unexpected, and looked as unite
countable as it was " unfair."
We are aware that late in life 3lessrs. Adams
and Clay disclaimed the " bargain "—their
denial is before their reuntryinen stud we shall
not impeach WO shall not say that a paper
war signed, scaled and delivered, to the effect
that they were to defeat W-n. Jackson and de
vide the spc.ll , ---but we roust be permitted to
think that a great wrong was done to the peo
ple and to Gen. Jacksoe —and that it was not
unfair " and .uniti rely unsupported" by facts

Though he was born to arise.
He once wee FAT, but then, indeed,

He died, the doctors an agreed,
Of a most burning fever.
If e'er you said "Go ont I pray,"

A man in Wisconsin has a horse which he
wishes to sell. If the animal actually pos

ARTIFICIAL TEETH.
TT is well known that first class Dentistry
has been beyond the reach of the toss, of :people
on account of its*costlineas, and the majority,. rather
than take up with the inferior workmanshinof "cheap
Dentists," have adopted the wiser nonlife and donor
without any, for it a set of teeth be imperfect in work
manship and inexact in fit, it is worse than useress and
dear at any price.

TIIE - CORALITE AND PORCELAIN TEETH have in
augurated a new era in the science of dentistry—being
the very best Artificial Teeth now in use, they can be
afforded at prices that place them within the reach of
all. • . • . -
Being the first to introduce these new Styles of work
to this community', I accordingly fixed such prices as I
deemed would remunerate the :beat:artistic and me
chanical skill. Since then, however, this unprecedented
favor with which the work has been received, has cona
pelted other Dentists to adopt it, ofwham wish to'
retain the old gold plate prices, which I consider Worild
be exorbitant; for; though the , new, Styles are really
. .
mOrevaluable than the best gold work,- they are .reade
.
of lss e xpensivesi material. The increased amount of
worltdone also compensates for the reduction in price.
On the other band, a . few • Dental Qtacks of this city,-
who possess neither mechanical skill. or common hon
esty, sidvertise the work at - prieesallghtly lees than my
own, notwithstanding they have neither theability nor
the right (It being patented) to manufacture it. The
object of this trickery is merely to obtain an oppevtu
nity to disparage the Coralite and Porcelain and recom
mend some of their own worthless work.
I have felt tound, inmstice to myself and the publiC,
to make known these facts:
The qualities of the -PORCELAIN OAE
PLATE TEETH, which establish theirg reat superiority
over the beet gold or other metalie plate are—entire free
dom from all metalic taste, email or tarnish. being in
corrodible and impervious to the juices of the mouth;
perfect :adaptation, or fit, (impossible in nietalic work,)
which, with much greater strength and lightness, ena
bles them to be worn with more ease, comfort and utili
ty. They are also far more durable, less liablato acci
dent and more easily repaired.
The public are invited to call and examine the - se new
styles of work at

rr HE PUBLIC BLESSING WHICH IS
