For the-Lidleti— . .ThO Fur Fasliioits
Speaking of what will be the prevailing
fashions in furs for the ladies this corning win
ter; the New York Jonnzal of CO7)I77ICrCe of
the lith says:
Styles dialog the e - ming winter will, gen
erally speaking, be the same as last year, with
some modifications affecting sizes and shapes,
rather than the materials used. For instance,
full-sized capes preserve the general character
istics, but are deeper and more cloak-like.
Garments of this character are necessarily re
stricted. by their cost, to a comparatively small
class. Half capes are next in fashionable de
mand and supercede almost entirely the tipet
and vietorine. In short, the tendency of pre
vailing styles is to render fur garments more
expansive, enveloping the person.
The leading furs of last season are retained.
Of these, the Russian, Hudson's Bay and mink
sables take the lead. Other descriptions rank
lower. Stone marten and fitch, once so pop
ular are out of vogue Last year, the propor
tion of costly furs sold was uncommonly large,
so that the tendency to liberal expenditure in
this regard, and an easier money market, fur
dealers anticipate large sales. The importation
of choice sables is much in excess of the last
few years—the Gunthers alone having received
furs of this class to the extent of some $70,01,
while in the lower grades there is a fallino . ' off.
The market is well supplied with the different
varieties, but not over stocked.

This Syrup, having stood the test of many years ex--
per...nee as a remedy for irritation or inflammation of
the Louts. Throat or Bronchia. is ark nowloged by all to
be a remedy eminently superior to ether known com
pounds used for the relief and radical cure of Coughs
and Consumption.
In compounding a Cough Syrup for general use, the
physician—for none but a physician should attempt a
prescription—is compelled. from his knowledge of the
constitution and constitutedparts of man, to avoid en
tirely the addition of drugs that can in any way tend to
do injury. Ills object is not only to cause a symptom.
Stier) as Itollt4ll. to stop, but it IN also expected Mat a
regularly edurated doctor, that lie should cure his pa
tient radically—while the pretender may allay a cough
by opium and squills. molasses and laudanum, anti
mony- morphia, and wild-cherry bark, and not be ac
countable for the after health oT his patient. Many of
the icrwrums of the clay those power to stop a cough,
and the .tslailed victim is lulled into an incurable farm
of direass, Or perhaps death.
A Ithough a cough may arise from a variety of causes
which still continue to operate, such as Tubercles, Ale
see , , chronic Inflammation of the Lungs, Liver, Bron
eliiii,Ac., still the lungs are the organs compelled
to do 11;e coughing, and consequently produce Con
sumption.
This Cough Syrup will nut only cure Cough, but in all
cast, prevent that Lisa of Diseases. CONSUMPTION-
