On inquiry at the hotel at the junction of the roads the individual with the brown pony and light spring wagon was ascertained to be the minister whose name she had assumed, residing in Upper St. Clair town ship. Officer Hague visited his house on Satur day ; he said hi family had been away for some time, and was much frightened. After a vain search through the house for the missing goods, ho was informed that they had been given him by a neighbor's daughter to take home. Hague now proceeded to the house in dicated, arrested the girl, and brought her to the city. She was accompanied by her father, a very respectable farmer, who was much dis tressed on hearing of the conduct of his daugh ter, a bright, handsome, intelligent young girl. The party who lost the goods did not wish to prosecute, and the father having restored the articles and recompensed him for his trouble, and tbe carriage driver being paid, the girl was allowed to go home. The case is a singular one—the young woman having displayed extraordinary shrewdness-- but more so from the fact that her father is both able and willing to indulge her tastes.- - She said she had read of similar confidence games having been practiced elsewhere, and thought she would try. On being asked what ;,he would have done had she not fortunately seen the minister in his wagon, she said she would have taken the goods directly home. She laughed heartily at the whole affair, and said she felt only for tbe poor driver, who was obliged to pay double toll on his return to the city. It has also been ascertained that she purchased some $2 or $ worth of trimmings, and had them sent to a room at the St. Clair hotel, practising the same game. The goods obtained from this party were also returned. It is said that the girl is not in her right mind. This may be true (and for the credit of herself and family it would be well if it were,) but her madness seems to be exceedingly methodical. If she is not insane, we hope her detection now may prevent a repetition of such practices hereafter. ANOTHER ACCIDENT ON THE CLEVELAND AND Prr.rsDukou RArtnoAD.—The Ravenna (Portage county, 0.,) papers state that on last Wednesday afternoon, as Mr. James Wright, a citizen of Rootstown, aged 66 years, was pro ceeding from Ravenna homeward, he met with a serious injury in consequence of his horse be coining frightened at the passing of the 5. r. express passenger train from Pittsburgh to Cleveland. The accident occurred at the Rail road crossing, about a mile south of the village known as Russell's crossing. As Mr. Wright approached the crossing, some workmen on the track motioned him to stop, a.s a train was ap proaching. He got out and held his horse until the train passed, when the animal became CO excited that he could no longer be held, and in breaking away ; )fr. Wright was thrown flown, and the buggy passed over his leg, dis- Tocatingiris ankle, and breaking the leg last above the 'joint. He. was ~much bruised, but was taken home at once.
